"His dedication has paid off"- MUTV Pundits hails goalscoring Marcus Rashford

At Old Trafford on Thursday night, Manchester United defeated Chelsea 4-1 to ensure they will be playing in the UEFA Champions League next campaign, thanks to a strike from Marcus Rashford.

Casemiro gave them an early advantage as he rose to head home a precise cross from Christian Eriksen.

When Antony was forced from the game, United suffered a setback. The former Ajax star's participation in the FA Cup final next month is now in doubt.

Martial, a French international, scored his ninth goal of the year in the final seconds before halftime, but they had already doubled their lead. Rashford and Fernandes both scored to seal the victory. Although Joao Felix pulled one back for the Blues to deny David De Gea his 17th cleansheet of the season.

Following in Robin van Persie's footsteps, Rashford will be motivated to repeat this and make sure it is not an isolated incident.

Marcus Rashford only had five goals in the previous season. His reversal is all the more astonishing because of that.

Marcus Rashford is jubilant after scoring his 30th goal of the year. What a season Marcus Rashford has had. Manchester United has a season goal scorer who scores 30 goals for the first time in 10 years.

He'll be hoping for more goals, particularly in the FA Cup final. Nobody, though, will be able to diminish Rashford's success this season.

Dion Dublin, a former United striker, spoke to MUTV after the game and praised Rashford for working hard to earn his rewards.

“His dedication to his trade, his skill, the amount he works when season finishes, doing his own training," he said.

“His dedication to scoring goals has paid off. I’m really pleased for Marcus, he has had some hard times. He’s back.”

The absence of an international competition is one benefit of the approaching summer.

Rashford may, if he chooses, take a full break and return early for preseason. We'll have to wait and see if he actually does sleep.

He had individualized training in America last season to make sure he returned in top form. Rashford won't want to relax and think he can take it easy.

Instead, he might wish to repeat his exercise regimen in order to duplicate his 30-goal campaign. No one can dispute, however, that he has earned a brief period of respite if he decides to take it.
