Erik Ten Hag reveals the length of Antony and Luke Shaw's injuries during Chelsea's defeat at Old Trafford

Manchester United are concerned that winger Antony may once again miss the final two months of this season with Ajax due to an ankle ailment. According to BBC.

In the victory over Chelsea, the Brazil forward was carried out on a stretcher while in tears after a harmless challenge.

The 23-year-old sustained the initial injury in a World Cup qualifying match for Brazil in March 2022, missing the final eight games of Ajax's 2021–22 season.

Since signing with United for £81 million in September, he has scored eight goals.

The primary drawback of Manchester United's 4-1 victory over Chelsea was the loss of Antony due to injury.

He was unable to leave on his injured ankle and was stretchered off in the first half. Luke Shaw also missed the second half after suffering a minor injury, adding insult to injury.

When discussing Antony, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag used the same word—"serious"—in interviews with various media. He had a little more hope for Luke Shaw, but he didn't take anything for granted.

"It’s difficult always to say, straight after the game, but, yeah, Antony is serious. Luke Shaw, we have to see," he told BEIN Sports.

"I don’t think it’s too bad but we have to wait 24 hours. We’ll have a diagnosis and we will know more.”

Ten Hag then told club media: “It’s difficult to say. Let’s wait for 24 hours and then we’ll know more."

“I don’t know [about Antony]. Everyone has seen he came off. I can tell you it is serious but we have to wait a minimum [of] 24 hours, then we know probably more about the status of the injury.”

The only misstep in what was otherwise a superb performance at Old Trafford was what appeared to be an injury to Antony, who departed the field on a stretcher after being grabbed awkwardly by Trevoh Chalobah's tackle.

The Brazilian was left groaning in agony inside the Chelsea box and appeared heartbroken as the team's medical staff evaluated the situation before eventually placing him on a stretcher.

It's uncertain how serious it is. According to Sky Sports, Antony was not brought to the hospital.

However, gauging the severity is dependent on the FA Cup final, which will be held at Wembley on June 3.

The Brazilian's potential absence from the match versus City is very real, and that would be disastrous for him.

Ten Hag will be careful while selecting his lineup for Sunday's match against Fulham as a result of these injuries. Although the third spot is up for grabs, Champions League qualification is certain.

Ten Hag went on to laud Casemiro, as he explained the importance of having the Brazilian and what he brings to the team.

"He's a massive player," he told SkySports "Such a good signing. He adapted so well to Premier League football. He missed many games and we noticed that. When he's not there our game is different. You see how important he is in everything."

"This week twice he's scored. The first goal is always the most important of the game. We knew his quality when we took him. He's doing a massive job and we're really happy."
