Three alterations have been made to Manchester United's roster for the Europa League knockout rounds.
UEFA's official website confirmed that Manchester United added three new players while releasing three others.
Despite their injuries, Christian Eriksen and Donny van de Beek are still listed as members of the squad. Phil Jones and Brandon Williams, neither of whom have played a single minute this season, have no place on the team.
All three of the new signings need room, which Manchester United easily found. Butland and Weghorst were able to show up because of Dubravka and Ronaldo's exits.
Due to Axel Tuanzebe's struggles with fitness, it would have been easy to leave him out even if he hadn't been loaned to Stoke.
His exclusion is a serious blow to Brandon Williams. Although he serves as a full-back in an emergency, he was unable to secure a loan transfer, therefore he won't be available in the Europa League. Ideally, he won't be required.
The situation with Phil Jones is absurd. The defender has had horrible luck with injuries; most recently, according to Erik ten Hag, Jones has only finished one training session. When his United contract expires in June, he will be discharged.
Despite being on loan at Newport County, Charlie McNeill is a member of the B team. This implies that he might be summoned back in an emergency.
In: Wout Weghorst, Marcel Sabitzer, Jack Butland
Out: Axel Tuanzebe, Martin Dubravka, Cristiano Ronaldo
Omitted again: Brandon Williams, Phil Jones
United Europa League squad: De Gea, Heaton, Butland, Dalot, Wan-Bissaka, Varane, Martinez, Maguire, Lindelof, Malacia, Shaw, Casemiro, McTominay, Fred, Eriksen, Sabitzer, Van de Beek, Fernandes, Pellistri, Antony, Rashford, Sancho, Martial, Weghorst, Garnacho.
B list: Vitek, Fredricson, Iqbal, Mainoo, Elanga, Shoretire, McNeill
Manchester United will face off with FC Barcelona in a two legged knock out tie. Donny Van De Beek and Christian Eriksen are certainly out of the tie due to injuries.
