Mason Greenwood's United future to be decided by two powerful figures are Old Trafford

Mason Greenwood's future could be decided in the coming weeks as Manchester United nears the conclusion of their internal inquiry into his behavior.

The 21-year-old hasn't played for the team since January 2022, when United suspended him following claims about his personal life that appeared on social media.

In October 2022, Greenwood was charged with attempted rape, coercive behavior, and assault causing actual bodily damage.

The club launched its own internal inquiry in order to acquire a "more complete understanding" of the claims after the Crown Prosecution Service dropped those charges against Greenwood in February.

During that time, Greenwood has been suspended, and based on the findings of the investigation, United will decide what to do next.

Although there was no set deadline for the probe, it was unlikely to be finished once the season entered its final stretch; nonetheless, it might be done while negotiations over a prospective takeover continue and the Glazer family is still considering bids for the club.

United has not yet completed its inquiry into Greenwood, but the process has advanced and a resolution is drawing near.

The Glazers will ultimately decide what course of action to pursue against the player after consulting with CEO Richard Arnold.
