Mason Greenwood holds secret meeting with Man United's first team players in bid for a potential return

The Daily Mail has revealed that Manchester United youngster Mason Greenwood has met with some members of the team's squad in secret as he bids to make his return to the team.
 
Then a 21-year-old man was arrested by the Greater Manchester Police and suspended by the club last January following accusations of attempted rape and assault on his girlfriend, Harriet Robson. The Crown Persecution Service made the announcement of his subsequent release on the grounds that the "key witnesses" had withdrawn their involvement.
 
The charges have been dropped much to the surprise of the public, but the 21-year-old has been denied the chances of returning to the team and resuming training with the rest of the squad, with Man United releasing a statement which states thus:
 
Manchester United "notes the decision of the Crown Prosecution Service that all charges against Mason Greenwood have been dropped."
 
"The club will now conduct its own process before determining next steps." We will not make any further comment until that process is complete.
 
Meanwhile, in recent weeks, rumors have suggested that Manchester United's squad is split over the news of the England international's potential return to the team.
 
The Daily Mail claimed that the 21-year-old has met with some of the team members secretly to explain things to them as the division in the dressing room continues.
 
One source told the paper: "He's reached out to some of the United players, some of whom he's known since his academy days." They've met up with him in private to hear him out so they can make their own mind up.
 
Another source claimed that the player wants to wear a Man United shirt again, but it's a contemporary topic amongst the Man United squad. However, the 21-year-old reached out to some mature team members who are married with children, according to the SUN.
 
A second source said: "There is a level of sympathy for someone who is innocent in the eyes of the law and a long-standing teammate."
 
"But the players are absolutely focused on keeping this juggernaut on the road."
 
Manchester United's manager Erik Ten Hag has also contacted the youngster following the dropping of charges and his subsequent release; the Dutch tactician enquired about his mental and physical states in a private phone call. The Times also alleged that Manchester United's squad is divided over the player's potential return.
 
Manchester United have however been in blistering form of late, currently unbeaten in 16 home games, and are anticipating to end the club's six-year trophy drought with a trip to Wembley stadium for the Carabao Cup's final.
 
They have also fought amazingly in their bid to secure a spot in the Europa League round of 16 after they drew 2-2 against Barcelona on Thursday night.
 
Mason Greenwood's return still has a long way to go before it could be a reality, as reports claim that Manchester United's internal investigation could last for months.
