Fans reacts as United's transfer target Jurrien Timber is spotted at Wembley stadium

FC Ajax ace Jurrien Timber was spotted amongst the crowd at Wembley stadium grounds as fans trooped into the stadium for the Emirates FA Cup final between the two top Manchester clubs.

Jurrien Timber has been heavily linked with a potential move to the Premier League since last year summer but rejected a reunion with Erik Ten Hag at Old Trafford opting to stay put at Ajax.

Reports from last month allegedly claimed he was close to agreeing a move with Manchester United's arch rivals, Liverpool while pictures of him and his girlfriend on house hunting surfaced online. However, Manchester United are heavily linked and tipped to snap up the 21 year old from Ajax.

The player himself had already confirmed in an interview that he will be leaving Netherlands for another league in Europe next season and Manchester United are been encouraged by Jaap Stam to hijack the defender from Liverpool.

Reports from the last 24 hours claimed that Newcastle United are reportedly interested in the 21 year old star and his teammate and Mapgies Center-back Sven Botman has opened up about a possible arrival to St James Park.

Newcastle United is expressing interest in Jurrien Timber, a highly regarded Ajax defender.

Exclusive to NUFC Blog, Football Transfers writer Steve Kay has been informed that the 21-year-old is being taken into consideration as we look for a right-sided center-back who can challenge Fabian Schar for the starting spot and partner with Sven Botman.

Despite having played alongside the former Lille star for the Dutch U21 team, Timber defeated Botman to a spot in the Netherlands' World Cup squad last year.

His limitations in the air may be a worry because, at 5 feet 10 inches, he is short for a center-back. Thought to appeal to the club's recruitment squad are his pace, versatility (he can also play right defender), Champions League experience, and promise.

Timber, who is likely to quit the Eredivisie giants this summer, has been linked to moves to both Manchester United and Liverpool, both of which are led by former Ajax manager Erik ten Hag.

Newcastle United ace Sven Botman opened up about his international team mate and fellow defender Jurrien Timber.

“I’ve been told from one good source that Newcastle are looking at Jurrien Timber at Ajax."

“They are looking to bring in another right-sided centre-back to compete with Fabian Schar and play alongside Sven Botman; who he’s played alongside for the Dutch U21 side."

"Timber has Champions League experience and is a versatile defender who can also play at right-back, so it makes plenty of sense."

“He ticks boxes, fits the profile Eddie Howe is targeting as a young, quick centre-back and could be an ideal long-term partner for Botman."
