Man United to compete with Aston Villa and two London clubs for Brentford's David Raya

Aston Villa are reported to be interested in Brentford goalkeeper David Raya ahead of the 2023 summer transfer window.

According to Birmingham Mail, the 27-year-old Spaniard is bound to bring the curtain down on his four-year Brentford career after rejecting proposals to extend it twice at the London club.

Thomas Frank's side is hell-bent on avoiding losing the shotstopper for free, so they will be left with no choice but to cash in on the 27-year-old. The Bees are already preparing for his exit and have secured the services of Freiburg's shotstopper Mark Flekken on an £11 million deal.

As indicated by GIVEMESPORT, several Premier League clubs are reported to be monitoring the goalie's situation at Brentford.

Manchester United are already long-time admirers, as Erik Ten Hag's side is hunting for David De Gea's replacement. Aston Villa, Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspur are also interested in the Spaniard, but Manchester United are reportedly heavily linked with Brentford's number one.

As stated during a press conference last season, Brentford's boss Thomas Frank claimed that the 27-year-old is worth £40 million while admitting that he is bound to exit the London club before the start of the next campaign.

"You all know the price—£40 million— £40m and absolutely it's absolutely realistic," he said.

"I think it is too much, in general, the money that is paid in football. But in the current market and at his level, he has been at least a top-four keeper in the Premier League this season. If you look at those players in such a crucial position, then I am not in doubt."

Rumors about Unai Emery's Aston Villa interest in David Raya are a result of Emiliano Martinez's being heavily linked with several clubs since his World Cup heroics with Argentina's national team in Qatar.

However, Manchester United still have David De Gea's contract issues to fix, while Jack Butland is linked with a move away to Scottish side Rangers. And Tom Healton and Dean Henderson are still recovering from injuries, with their futures uncertain.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano asserted over the week that Manchester United and David De Gea's camp are allegedly close to agreeing a new contract.

"At the moment, for De Gea, the agreement is really close," he told GiveMeSport.

"As we know, Manchester United are looking to extend De Gea and sign a new backup goalkeeper."

"So, this is the idea. For De Gea, it's about the final details."
