Luke Shaw disappointed with Man United's back in top four race

Luke Shaw, a defender for Manchester United, is dissatisfied that his team has been forced into a top-four battle following a recent sequence of defeats.

The Red Devils were comfortably sitting in third place a few weeks ago, and it did not appear to be an especially difficult assignment to qualify for the Champions League.

United, meanwhile, has only garnered 14 points from their previous nine league contests. A team with aspirations of placing in the top four would not have a run like that. On the other side, Liverpool, who are currently on a six-game winning streak, has 19 points from the same number of games.

Even though Erik ten Hag's team leads Liverpool by a point with two games remaining, the situation is more tense than expected. What Shaw has to say about being forced into the race is as follows (h/t Express): " We have to be honest. I think that’s even more disappointing [that we’ve let Liverpool back into it]. It was extremely comfortable for us at one point."

“But the way we have been playing and the results we have had, we’ve now got dragged back into a fight that we didn’t want to be in. We have to refocus. We have to get ready because West Ham are fighting for their lives. It’s a massive game.”

Has the squad suffered as a result of the scheduling? It's possible. With a roster that is not very deep in terms of talent across the board, United is expected to play more than 60 games this season.

Therefore, in order to achieve the required results, the manager must continue to play certain crucial players if they are underperforming. Marcus Rashford no longer scores goals.

Because of this, even if United was barely hanging onto a point against Brighton on Thursday, it would have meant a lot in the grand scheme of the table. That is also absent in advance of today's challenging away match against West Ham United thanks to Shaw's handball and Alexis Mac Allister's nervy penalty.

The team led by David Moyes has been playing well, particularly at home. They demonstrated tremendous tenacity by rallying from two goals behind to tie Arsenal. There is yet hope for them because they are still in danger of being demoted.

Can ten Hag motivate the team to push through and earn three points against the Hammers after a difficult game and defeat on Thursday? We'll watch and wait.
