According to the German publication Sport Bild, Manchester United is apparently in advanced talks to recruit Jeremie Frimpong, a target for Arsenal and a Bayer Leverkusen player.
The Gunners are reportedly aiming to step up their efforts to sign a new right-back after Takehiro Tomiyasu's injury-plagued season, and they have been connected with a number of possibilities before the summer transfer window.
The North London club has been linked with Joao Cancelo, Ridle Baku, and Ivan Fresneda as potential targets, but Frimpong is also allegedly on their radar.
However, it appears like Arsenal will not be able to recruit the Leverkusen star this summer as Man Utd have reportedly made'relatively far' in their negotiations to capture Frimpong. So it would appear that Man Utd would be Frimpong's preferred destination over Arsenal if he were to leave Bayer Arena at the end of this season.
As Frimpong approaches the end of his current contract, it has been speculated that Leverkusen may want to let their star player leave this summer if they receive a bid of at least £30 million from teams like Manchester United in order to maximize their gain from the sale.
Since Erik ten Hag joined Man Utd earlier in the season, Frimpong has been mentioned in connection with a transfer. The Bayer Leverkusen player can be considered as Aaron Wan-Bissaka's Old Trafford successor.
Wan-Bissaka has played his way back into ten Hag’s plans in recent months, but he’s still tipped to leave at the end of the season if United manage to sign Frimpong.
The Dutch U21 player is an offensive-minded full-back. He is lightning fast, great at weaving passes between the lines, terrific at dribbling past players on the other team in confined spaces, and also capable of scoring some significant goals. If Manchester United can beat Arsenal to his signature this summer, he would therefore be a wise acquisition.
Dean Henderson set for Switch to Tottenham Hotspur
According to sources, a Man Utd star has emerged as one of two ready-made replacements with Premier League experience after a Tottenham veteran may have played his final match for the club.
A season that held out so much hope but ultimately failed to materialize has been another torturous campaign for Tottenham.
One of his best ever campaigns is one that Harry Kane is quietly savoring. But for Erling Haaland, Kane's goal total of 25 would put him five goals ahead of Ivan Toney in the battle for the English Premier League's Golden Boot.
Other Spurs players, most notably Hugo Lloris, have experienced seasons at the other end of the scale.
The 36-year-old French goalkeeper is presently ranked first in the Premier League for mistakes that result in goals. Only two players (Illan Meslier and Idirssa Gueye) are on three, which makes his four-point total all the more worrisome.
Lloris has obviously outlived his usefulness, and there is growing suspicion that his 11-year stay in north London will come to an end this summer.
The end of the upcoming season marks the end of Lloris' current contract. Although a premature departure this summer is still being discussed, The Evening Standard reports that he might never play for Tottenham again given his present thigh injury.
Lloris will not play in Saturday's match between Tottenham and Crystal Palace. He is a "major doubt" to play again this season, according to The Standard.
If it happens, Lloris' last competitive match in a Tottenham shirt will be the humiliating 6-1 loss to Newcastle. Although they are not considered to be competitive games, he will be entitled to a testimonial.
According to The Standard, Spurs will likely be looking for a new No. 1 this summer. The Daily Mail speculates that either Manchester United or Brentford might provide Lloris with a successor.
According to Football Insider, Dean Henderson has decided that the game is finished at Old Trafford in the absence of David de Gea zeroing in on a new contract.
Henderson is now on loan at Nottingham Forest, where he intends to play frequently in order to gain a spot in England's Euro 2024 roster. The only way they can relocate permanently to Forest is if they avoid the plunge.
The Mail reports that Tottenham are also interested in signing Henderson, and recent thigh surgery-related concerns have somewhat subsided.
Henderson had surgery to fix a thigh issue that has kept him from playing since mid-January. The Manchester Evening News said that he might not be available until August, but the player has a different interpretation of events.
Henderson said he "will be back for pre season" in an update on his rehabilitation time posted to Instagram. A summer transfer should not be prevented because of this. It would appear that everyone would profit if Henderson moved to Tottenham.
Spurs would acquire a fresh number one who is ready to go, while United would recuperate a substantial amount for a squad player. Henderson would also fulfill his ambition by starting every game for one of England's elite clubs.
David Raya of Brentford is another candidate that Tottenham is reportedly investigating, according to The Mail.
The Bees, who are anticipated to make as much money as they can this summer, won't offer the Spain international a new contract.
Henderson has a price tag of £30 million, while Thomas Frank earlier estimated Raya's value at £40 million.
