Liverpool enters race for £20 million Ten Hag's target as City and United's interest in Bastoni grows

Manchester United has been dealing with blowback as a result of subpar defensive efforts for a while. Center-backs have frequently infuriated United supporters and football analysts with their mistakes and performances. However, Lisandro Martinez has excelled for the team as a center-back this season.

But there are still issues with Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof's performances. The pair has not demonstrated promise while representing United despite numerous opportunities. The 20-time league champions have expressed interest in signing Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni in order to finally find a solution.

But it won't be so simple to sign the Italian. According to reports, Manchester City, United's local rival, is also interested in hiring Bastoni. It is hardly surprising that the 24-year-old is attracting the interest of two of England's top teams given his performances.

"Manchester United and Manchester City are interested in taking over the services of Alessandro Bastoni in the next transfer window. A new edition of the Manchester derby for the signing of one of the best centre-backs in Serie A today. This season he has six assists in 33 games played in all competitions, which has caught the attention of the two teams from the city of Manchester.” – Fichajes stated in the report.

It will be interesting to watch Bastoni's future given the attention. At San Siro, the Italian's current contract runs out in 2024. And if the player is sincere about wanting to leave Inter, the team would prefer to sell him this summer in order to secure a high price for him.

Manchester City has a lot of talented center backs in its ranks, according to their roster. Aymeric Laporte, a City center-back, is reportedly planning to leave the team this summer if recent rumours are to be believed. If accurate, it is not shocking because Laporte has recently had trouble getting into Pep Guardiola's lineups.

Well, if Laporte leaves City, bringing in Bastoni would only help the team. Bastoni would be a terrific addition for many reasons, including the fact that City frequently plays a back three. Laporte has played in a back three for the entirety of his career and has less experience playing in United's back four.

Bastoni is only 24 years old, which is very important in terms of investments. The youngster is still young enough to provide City with many years of strong play and help the team build a strong backline in the process.

Liverpool edges closer to Erik Ten Hag's £20 million transfer target

Ryan Gravenberch, a midfielder for Bayern Munich, is reportedly eager to join Liverpool in the Premier League this summer.

Adding one or two midfielders to their roster is one of Liverpool's top targets for this summer.

Liverpool has been interested in Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham recently, but the English team has now acknowledged that they will be unable to sign the player this summer.

Chelsea's Mason Mount and Matheus Nunes of Wolves are two potential acquisitions that Liverpool may now have to think over as alternatives.

Another player with whom Liverpool has recently been associated is Gravenberch. The midfielder moved from Ajax to Bayern Munich last summer for almost £20 million. The Dutchman has participated in 27 games this season across all leagues, but he has only made one Bundesliga start.

According to Sky Sports, Gravenberch is excited about the chance to put his development back on track at Anfield, and Liverpool has made a "strong pitch" to the player's management in an effort to sign him this summer.

Rafaela Pimenta, the midfielder's agent, "met with Liverpool at the turn of the year," and the Premier League club "engaged" with the player's father just last week.

Erik ten Hag checked his availability for Manchester United, according to the report, before choosing to loan Marcel Sabitzer from Bayern in January.

Bayern Munich "were unwilling to permit a departure" at the time; however, this summer, they are "open to selling Gravenberch and want to collect the £20m amount - including add-ons" they agreed for him, as well as a little profit." Recently, Gravenberch said he could "look elsewhere" if his time at Bayern Munich is unsuccessful.

“In my career I never really had a setback until this season. I was always a big talent and joined Ajax’s first team at a young age. For me, this season is only the first season in which I’m having a hard time and little game time,” Gravenberch admitted.

“As a player you also get better from such experiences. I am still very young and I’m glad I’m experiencing something like this now instead of experiencing it for the first time later in my career."

“I’m mentally strong and I’m making even better steps in this situation. This is how I try to convert this experience into something positive. I’m staying strong."

“I’d rather succeed at Bayern. But if that doesn’t work out and I don’t get opportunities, then maybe I should look elsewhere."

“At the moment, however, I’m not so concerned with that and I hope that I can change my situation at Bayern. I’m still convinced in my choice and don’t regret it at all."

“I had certainly hoped and also expected I would play more at Bayern. So far it has not gone as expected. For me that’s a pity, but I’m dealing with it well.”
