'There is no real pressure'- Sean Longstaff is feeling confident ahead of Wembley showdown with Man United

Newcastle United mid fielder Sean Longstaff has issued a warning, stating that there will be "no real pressure" on his Newcastle United team to defeat Manchester United in the Carabao Cup final.

On Wednesday night, Manchester United defeated Nottingham Forest 2-0 at Old Trafford to complete a 5-0 triumph after taking a three-goal advantage back from the City Ground with to goals from Marcus Rashford, Wout Weghorst, and Bruno Fernandes. With the victory, Erik ten Hag's team has secured a spot in the championship game against a Premier League foe on February 26.

The Reds heard about their possible Wembley opponents on Tuesday night as Newcastle United defeated Southampton to go to their first cup final since 1999. The trip to the capital comes amid an outstanding campaign for the Magpies, who are among the top four along with United, Arsenal, and Manchester City.

A 0-0 stalemate at Old Trafford in October demonstrated the level playing field, with Newcastle currently sitting above Manchester United on goal differential. While Longstaff acknowledges that the pressure would be off his team, the midfielder is optimistic that the Magpies will prevail.

"We get to celebrate tonight [Tuesday], it's been a long time since we've got to a final but I think ultimately if you don't win it, it's pointless getting there," Longstaff told NUFC TV. "Hopefully we'll have Bruno [Guimaraes] back by then as well, and we'll be at full strength going into the game and you never know what can happen going into a final."

"Obviously, realistically they're expected to beat us if it is Man Utd, it looks that way. There's no real pressure on us to go there and win. We'll enjoy the occasion, and we're a quietly confident group so we know we can achieve anything when we're all together."

Man United dominated the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi finals against Nottingham Forest on Wednesday night, and after coming on as a substitute, Anthony Martial finally opened the scoring in the second half. Three minutes later, Fred sealed a 2-0 victory, giving Man United a 5-0 aggregate victory.
