Erik Ten Hag confirms Man United's striker plans ahead of summer transfer window amid Rashford new contract saga

In order to improve the team for the upcoming season, according to Erik ten Hag, Manchester United is actively seeking a new goalscorer when the transfer window opens.

With the Carabao Cup, Ten Hag broke United's trophy drought in his first season in charge, and the Dutchman is still looking for more.

With Harry Kane allegedly being Ten Hag's top objective as well as a midfielder, it is anticipated that United will prioritize a top-tier striker.

In addition, we fully anticipate a number of players to depart at the conclusion of the campaign. Whether the Glazers are able to sell the team before the end of May will have a significant impact on United's finances.

“We are working hard in the background so that we get more players in scoring,” Ten Hag said, as quoted by the Manchester Evening News. “But at the same time we have to develop our attacking play, so that more players come into areas where they can score goals."

“I think we have the capabilities. I have to repeat that Jason Sancho can score a goal, Bruno Fernandes can score a goal, Marcel Sabitzer can score a goal and Antony."

"The good thing is Anthony Martial is getting fit, fit and fitter, so when he is back he can definitely score goals, so we already have two players who are capable of scoring 15 goals or more."

“You always have to think about improving your way of playing. We are now in the final stage, so not even two months to go, so you keep working to improve your game and then you make the next step."

“The summer will come, and I already said, of course we are working in the background. But in this moment, it is not the focus. It is about now. We are in the right spot and we are competing for the top four of the Premier League, the quarter-final of the Europa League and semi-final of the FA Cup."

“We have already won a cup, so we have to make it a really successful season. We have a great squad, so I am really positive to get a good final stage of the season and even more silverware," Erik Ten Hag stated.

Manchester United are heavily linked with several strikers' options ahead of the incoming summer transfer window. Several reports claimed Harry Kane is topping the Dutch tactician's wishlist, while Victor Oshimen is being considered a strong option.

Atalanta's Rasmus Hojlund, Brighton's Evan Ferguson, France stars Kolo Muani and Marcus Thuram, and Lille's David Jonathan, among others, are being tipped as major transfer targets by Manchester United.

They still have to compete with fellow Premier League rivals Arsenal and Chelsea for some of these transfer targets, while reports emerging this week claim Bayern Munich will rival the Red Devils for three of their major transfer targets: Victor Oshimen, Harry Kane, and Kolo Muani.

Manchester United had to rely on Marcus Rashford's goalscoring abilities this season. The 25-year-old is enjoying his best season in front of goal; he has scored 28 goals across all competitions for Manchester United and provided nine more assists.

However, the Red Devils are dealing with the dilemma of getting the academy graduate to pen a new deal. While rumors suggest that Marcus Rashford rejected Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain's offer of a £440,000-a-week deal to join them, he trashed rumors of him seeking a £500,000-a-week salary from Manchester United, emphasizing he is focused on finishing the season with the team.

Still, he has put his contract talks with the team's management on hold till the end of the season; rumors suggest this is due to the on-going takeover saga at the club.

Erik Ten Hag during his Friday's press conference stated he wouldn't want to talk about the England international's contract situation in public before adding that he is relaxed about the possibility of the season's top scorer penning a new contract.

“I don’t want to comment on the process because I don’t think it will support the process, but I am quite relaxed,” Ten Hag added.
