Newcastle United recieves Miguel Almiron injury boost, Man United awaits injury update ahead of Sunday clash

After spotting the Newcastle star at Heathrow Airport, a Newcastle United supporter appears to have posted a Miguel Almiron injury report.

Kevin Simpson tweeted in the small hours of Tuesday: "Flight changed by BA bumped into this chap in Heathrow, fit and ready for the weekend."

After Newcastle United's 2-1 victory over Nottingham Forest, Eddie Howe confirmed that Miguel Almiron would be out for six weeks with a thigh injury.

"Miggy pulled a thigh muscle in training and it’s, unfortunately, it’s quite a bad one. It’ll be six weeks," Eddie Howe stated.

It was also because of this injury that he was not chosen for the Paraguay national squad during the international break.

Miguel Almiron has been active on Instagram, though, since Howe revealed the strain, posting pictures of his workouts and recovery. While the squad were either away on international duty or in Dubai at the NUFC warm weather camp, Miggy was back at the Benton training site.

Newcastle United is currently preparing for what is sure to be an exciting Premier League matchup against Manchester United.

The international holiday is gradually coming to an end, refocusing attention on the start of club football. A fight for a top-four spot and eligibility for European football will have the Magpies fired up as well. As things stand, Eddie Howe’s men are in fifth position, just two points behind Tottenham and with two outstanding games.

They have played the same number of games as Man Utd and are only three points behind them, which makes this weekend's matchup at St James' Park against the Red Devils even more appealing.

Sven Botman, who was sick during the international break, will be a concern for Newcastle, but you would expect Callum Wilson will also be able to play by the deadline. Allan Saint-Maximin, who suffered a hamstring injury before the break, and Nick Pope, who had to leave England duty due to a minor problem, should both be available for this match.

While Miguel Almiron is out with a quadriceps injury, Anthony Gordon might be able to return. Both youngster Matty Longstaff and Emil Krafth will be sidelined until preseason. Joelinton, who is absent for this game for having received two yellow cards, is also not playing for Newcastle.

Donny van de Beek is out for the remainder of the season for Manchester United, and Alejandro Garnacho will be out for a few more weeks. For United, Casemiro is also out because he was given a suspension for receiving his second consecutive red card of the year.

The good news for Ten Hag is that he anticipates Christian Eriksen, Anthony Martial, and Marcus Rashford returning from injury. The latter two will still be listed as doubts for this one.
