De Gea and Bruno Fernandes states what United must do to win another trophy

Manchester United's duo of David De Gea and Bruno Fernandes has indicated that the Red Devils will have to beat the best teams if they want to lift more trophies this season.

The Red Devils are gunning to scoop up another cup and add it to the team's trophy cabinet as the season's conclusion keeps edging closer. After coveting the Carabao Cup in February by defeating Newcastle United 2-0 at Wembley Stadium, the Red Devils are inspired for another trophy triumph.

They are to play Fulham at Stamford Bridge on Sunday evening in a bid to secure a semi-final spot in the Emirates FA Cup, while they have been drawn against Sevilla in the quarter-finals of the Europa League. The Red Devils have found themselves making progress against tough teams while grinding out much-needed results in a hectic schedule of fixtures.

Manchester United's cleansheet record holder, David De Gea, however, believes that he and his teammates would have to beat the best teams in order to stand a chance of winning yet another trophy this season. Speaking specifically about their Sunday opponent, who has dropped to ninth on the Premier League table after recent defeats, the Spaniard said: "I think it is probably one of the best teams in the draw."

“Fulham have been doing really well this season.”

“At the end, it doesn’t matter who we’ll play against because to get to the final and win a trophy, we’ll have to beat the best teams in the competition. Let’s keep going!" he added.

Bruno Fernandes, who has captained the side most times this season as a result of team captain Harry Maguire falling down the pecking order, agreed with David De Gea's notion and went on to stress that the Cottagers are a tough side to play against.

“As David said, we have to beat the best to be in the final," he told MUTV.

“Fulham is a really tough team; they’re playing really well with a manager that I know really well."

“They have good players; they have been in a good moment with confidence; we played them there [at Craven Cottage] and we knew how tough it was, but we have to do our job." "We want to beat them and will do everything we can to be in the semi-finals.”

Manchester United's manager Erik Ten Hag also thinks his side is motivated about traveling to Wembley Stadium once more before the season runs out and explained the new mentality that has been instilled in the players.

“I think we have to establish our culture, a winning culture," he stated during his press conference on Friday afternoon.

"We are Manchester United; we have to win all the games; we have to compete in all the leagues; we have to win all the leagues." So that has to be the mentality. It's not that you win all the leagues. "The mentality is when you go into a game, you have to win the game.”

"Of course it is huge motivation," Erik Ten Hag replied when asked about another visit to Wembley Stadium with his team.

"We all really enjoyed Wembley, and we really enjoyed winning a trophy, so it has to be the fuel for the next one." [We have to] get pushed by that idea. "That has to bring extra energy to beat Fulham.”

Manchester United beat Fulham in the capital back in November, with injured winger Alejandro Garnacho's 93rd-minute solo goal proving the difference in a 2-1 victory.
