Manchester United's manager Erik Ten Hag has stated he is glad about his side's performance in the 2-1 win over Crystal Palace at Old Trafford on Saturday. The Red Devils sealed a 2-1 to record their 13 the consecutive home win this season and this takes them 3rd on the Premier League table.
The 53 year old manager spoke to MUTV and SkySports after the game which saw Casemiro sent off for allegedly holding Crystal Palace's Will Hughes by the neck during an altercation between the two sides, however, the manager was happy to the team's general performance.
"I love many things," Ten Hag told MUTV and SkySports. "First of all, the quality of the game. In the first 70 minutes, we played a really good game on the pitch, in the possession, the formations and the passing security."
"The defensive transitions and the counter press were also brilliant and I think we dominated the game. I think we deserved the lead and especially the second goal was a great goal to see."
The manager also hailed the Old Trafford crowd for being vocal with the team while they fought back to keep their 2-1 lead during the game. The former Ajax manager underlined the significance of the fans support
"It's great. Once again, united between the fans and the team. The connection, and we have to keep the process going, is brilliant because it really shows that we are working together on the success of Manchester United," he explained.
Manchester United's left back Luke Shaw concurred with the manager's statement regarding the fans unwavering support at Old Trafford as the England international claimed the players feed off the crowd's energy and they helped make the difference during the win over Crystal Palace.
“It obviously feels much nicer at the end when Old Trafford was absolutely bouncing and I think the energy the crowd were giving us today, especially in the last 20 minutes, was why we love it here and why we enjoy being out on that pitch playing in front of them," Luke Shaw told MUTV.
“We felt like they were with us and we feed off that energy and they helped us a lot in the last 20 minutes.”
He added: “If you just watch the last 20 minutes or even the last five minutes I think it shows it does make a big difference [to have the fans behind you]. I think it was such an important three points today and they clearly did their part to help us achieve that," Luke Shaw explained.
