In the Carabao Cup final between Manchester United and Newcastle, David Coote will serve as the referee.
The officials for the match have been approved by the relevant governing bodies. United has gone almost six years without winning a trophy and will try to break that curse on February 26 at Wembley. Tim Wood and Nick Hopton will be Coote's assistants.
Under the fabled arch, Simon Hooper will serve as the fourth official, and there will undoubtedly be a lot of focus on the VAR in the wake of some egregious mistakes made by the system during the most recent Premier League matchday. Peter Bankes will serve as the day's video assistant referee.
Eddie Smart has been selected as the assistant VAR, and Nick Greenhalgh is available to fill in for any of the active matchday officials in case it becomes necessary. On Sundays at 4.30 p.m., United and Newcastle square off for the first big trophy of the year.
Man United easily defeated Nottingham Forest in the semifinals to secure their spot in the championship game.
This season, Coote, a referee from Nottinghamshire, has officiated 22 games across all competitions. When Chelsea lost to Fulham, Joao Felix was dismissed for the Blues on his Premier League debut. He has issued 79 yellow cards and two red ones.
He has presided over two United games this season: the victory over Everton in the Premier League in October and the encounter with Villa in the Carabao Cup a month later. He dealt cards to Scott McTominay (twice), Harry Maguire, and Bruno Fernandes during those games.
