Man United's trio makes Alan Shaerer BBC's Team of the Week following display at Elland Road

Man United's trio have been named in the BBC Team of the Week by Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer. David De Gea, Marcus Rashford, and Luke Shaw have been included in the BBC's Team of the Week after the trio's brilliant contributions to Erik Ten Hag's side's victory at Elland Road on Sunday.

Manchester United's 2-0 victory against Leeds United at Elland Road momentarily moved the Red Devils into second place on the Premier League table before rivals recovered the spot after beating Aston Villa 3-1 on Sunday.

Manchester United saw off a resilient and aggressive Leeds United on Sunday, with Marcus Rashford's header and Alejandro Gernacho coming off the bench to score, ensuring that Erik Ten Hag's side left West Yorkshire with maximum points.

Man United had to wait until late in the second half to settle the game. Marcel Sabitzer's long-range flick found Luke Shaw in an acre of space unmarked, which gave the left back enough time to float an accurate cross into the box, where a waiting Marcus Rashford sent it to the far corner of the net with a superb header.

Two minutes later, Alejandro Gernacho latched onto a through ball after he was set up by Wout Weghorst. The young Argentine beat his marker with his pace and launched a powerful shot that took a wicked deflection off the woodwork and into the back of the net, despite Leeds United's shotstopper's attempt to parry it out.

Marcus Rashford's goal was his 21st of the campaign across all competitions for the Red Devils. It was also his 13th since, after the World Cup, the academy graduate is one goal shy of his career high of 22 goals in one single campaign. He was instrumental for Manchester United on Sunday at Elland Road.

Luke Shaw started the game as a center back but was eventually moved to his traditional left back position, where he was able to set up Marcus Rashford's goal within a minute of playing there.

David De Gea entered the Premier League record books following his appearance on Sunday. He became the first non-British player to make 400 appearances in the Premier League and as a Manchester United player. He was vital in Manchester United's victory on Sunday, as he made brilliant saves to keep the Red Devils in the game. He eventually went on to keep a clean sheet.
