Erik Ten Hag sanctions player sales as United starts rebuild process

According to a rumor, Manchester United and another Premier League team are engaged in extensive negotiations regarding the transfer of one of their English players.

In an effort to catch up to teams like Manchester City and Arsenal, Man Utd is poised to make improvements in a number of positions this summer. Ten Hag's top aim is to find a new center-forward who can help relieve some of Marcus Rashford's goal-scoring pressure.

On Monday, TEAMtalk exclusively reported that Manchester United had decided the £150 million price tag for Victor Osimhen was too expensive. They consequently reduced their interest in the Napoli star, with Rasmus Hojlund of Atalanta now being considered as a less expensive substitute.

Additionally, the Red Devils are in the lead to acquire Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount, who plays for England. Although they have reached a personal agreement with Mount, the two clubs still have a significant gap in their assessments of the player.

Man Utd will work with Ten Hag to try and bring in a new right-back and a new goalkeeper once the attack and midfield are in order. Diogo Costa, a standout for Porto, might replace Wayne Rooney as Man Utd's starter. But if Costa might visit Old Trafford, Dean Henderson, the other alternative, appears certain to depart.

Tuesday morning, it was revealed that West Ham is interested in both Henderson and Henderson's teammate Scott McTominay.

West Ham, though, appears to be in danger of losing the goalie to Nottingham Forest. According to talkSPORT, Forest and Man Utd are in 'advanced talks' regarding Henderson's long-term transfer.

Ten Hag, who has "sanctioned his exit," has given the go-ahead for Steve Cooper's team to "lead the chase" for Henderson.

This will make Henderson very happy. Since failing to overtake David de Gea in the lineup despite the 32-year-old goalkeeper's limitations, he has been searching for a long-term move away from Old Trafford.

The financial gain Henderson's transfer will provide Man United is not yet clear. But given his exploits while wearing a Forest jersey and the fact that he is 26 years old, which means he is approaching his prime years, they ought to be able to get a reasonable price for him.

The prospective transfer comes after the Englishman spent the season on loan at Forest, where he made 20 appearances and maintained six clean sheets before a thigh injury terminated his season early. If a return to the City Ground does happen, Keylor Navas will have to earn his starting spot back from the Costa Rican international because of the excellent job he has done in Henderson's absence.

West Ham might still enter the picture and thwart Forest's aspirations. However, the East Midlands team is currently in a fantastic position to sign Henderson. Thanks to the loan spell, they are further ahead in their pursuit of his signature and also have a prior relationship with him.

Meanwhile, as Aston Villa closes in on one of their former targets, Manchester United and Tottenham may come to regret a certain transfer decision.
