United's bid for 16 year old confirmed as Marcus Thuram prepares for emotional Borussia exit

Marcus Thuram is getting ready to bid Borussia Monchengladbach a tearful farewell in anticipation of a possible summer transfer to the Premier League, with Manchester United being mentioned.

Erik ten Hag may need to think outside the box in order to find a new center-forward because players like Harry Kane, Victor Osimhen, Randal Kolo Muani, and Goncalo Ramos are all priced in the neighborhood of £100 million. In particular, Financial Fair Play requirements limit the Dutchman's ability to spend, new owners or not. Thus, Marcus Thuram is a risky choice that merits monitoring.

SportBILD claims that Manchester United observed the France international at the beginning of the year. Thuram, who is 25 years old and should be entering his prime, has 16 goals and six assists this season.

The former Guingamp star is a potentially appealing alternative because of his accessibility and price, perhaps to be used in place of or in addition to a more high-profile, expensive choice.

“I just want to enjoy my last two games for Borussia and be able to look back on all the incredible moments I have experienced here,” smiles Thuram, who will be leaving Monchengladbach when his contract expires in July.

“Every game at Borussia Park was special for me. The past four years have been fantastic. I came here as a young player, and I developed enormously."

“It was amazing to be able to compete in the Champions League and play my way into the national team. I owe so much to this club, and I’ll never forget what it has done for me."

“Borussia will always have a special place in my heart.”

Thuram, who was given the title of "world-class" talent following one particularly strong performance against Wolfsburg in late 2022, is not quite as well-known or productive as players like Harry Kane or Victor Osimhen. In contrast to Kolo Muani, he doesn't accrue as many assists.

However, Thuram still possesses a lot of the qualities Ten Hag is seeking for. He is nimble, powerful, and a great link-man. able to succeed in a variety of attacking roles, including in the middle and out wide.

He might be a brilliant, affordable successor for the stylistically comparable but increasingly prone to injury Anthony Martial.

Sports Director confirms Man United's bid for youngster

Before Premier League rivals Chelsea and the wonderkid from Ecuador, Kendry Paez, reached an agreement worth up to £17 million, Manchester United made a bid for him.

Santiago Morales, general director of Independiente del Valle, says as much.

Kendry Paez's 20 million euro transfer fee will have been well spent in Chelsea's eyes if he can duplicate the success of the previous Independiente graduate to switch the Estadio Banco Guayaquil for England's top division.

Under the guidance of Graham Potter and Roberto de Zerbi, Moises Caicedo, who left the Ecuadorian team two years ago, has developed into one of the most accomplished young midfielders in the league.

While everything is going on, fellow countryman Paez is headed to Stamford Bridge in a move that makes the 16-year-old wonderkid one of the most expensive U18 players in football history.

“Today, I can say that Kendry Paez, in two years’ time, will go to Chelsea,” Morales tells The Standard, while admitting that an ‘offer’ also arrived on his desk from Old Trafford.

“We received offers from Borussia Dortmund and Manchester United. Chelsea were the team that showed the most interest.”

It would be understandable if United decided not to match Chelsea's absurd offer. The Athletic reports that the Financial Fair Play requirements may force the Red Devils to operate on a budget of about £100 million this summer.

Old Trafford needed a striker, a goalkeeper, a center back, and at least one first-team midfielder; therefore, it would have been illogical to spend a fifth of their total budget on a teenager with fewer than 10 senior appearances.

Before Ten Hag can bolster his team this summer, he might have to sell something. The players most likely to be made available for transfer include Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay, with West Ham and Newcastle reportedly interested.

While waiting for the ownership dispute to come to a long delayed conclusion, deals for players like Kim Min-Jae, Harry Kane, Victor Osimhen, and others are on hold.

Sheikh Jassim of Qatar made a further offer in the middle of the week, but The Times feels that Sir Jim Ratcliffe's own proposal is more likely to meet the Glazers' requirements.
