Atalanta's head coach issues 'impossible' Rasmus Hojlund's transfer update as Otto Rosengren breaks silence on United's link

Gian Piero Gasperini, the head coach of Atalanta, acknowledges that the Italian club will find it "impossible" to turn down high-dollar offers for Rasmus Hojlund, a transfer target for Manchester United this coming summer.

At the conclusion of the previous month, the Manchester Evening News revealed that United was keeping an eye on the highly regarded Danish international. The team intends to bring in a new striker ahead of the upcoming campaign, and they are leaving all of their options open, however Erik ten Hag is most interested in Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane.

Holjund, who will turn 20 in February, joined Atalanta last summer from the Austrian team SK Sturm Graz and has tallied eight goals and three assists in 29 appearances.

He also scored a hat-trick in a 3-1 victory against Finland to mark his complete debut for Denmark last month. A few days later, he scored twice against Kazakhstan.

The Dane has been called the "new Erling Haaland," which means interest in his potential has risen right away. He also describes himself as a United supporter.

He is apparently being pursued by a number of teams ahead of the summer, and Atalanta president Gasperini has acknowledged that they will struggle to hold onto him should high-value offers arrive in their inbox.

"I haven't seen so many strikers as good as Højlund at 20," said Gasperini. "He can improve a lot, he's great."

"Top European clubs are always attentive to this kind of top talents. There could be some huge bids for him that would be impossible to reject for us."

The 20-year-old player has a deal with Atalanta through the summer of 2027 after joining the Serie A club for €17 million last summer. In recent years, they have earned a reputation for producing exciting talent, like the now-United winger Amad, who joined the Reds in January 2021.

Otto Rosengren breaks silence on Man United's link

Otto Rosengren of Mjällby AIF is being watched by Manchester United, according to Hans Larsson, the club's sporting director, who made the announcement last week.

The chairman also disclosed that Viborg and AGF had joined the Red Devils so that their representative could closely see the 19-year-old in action for his team.

Following Monday's 2-0 loss against Brommapojkarna for Mjällby, Fotbollskanalen spoke with the midfielder and spoke about his feelings over Manchester United's interest in him.

"It’s nice to hear and it shows that you are doing something well. But I don’t attach too much importance to it,” he said.

“It’s quite powerful. But then, of course, you can’t think about that when you’re playing. But when you think about it, it’s quite big.”

“Just keep playing my game. It’s hard work that got me here, and I want to keep developing. It’s the same job. You can’t be satisfied anywhere; you have to keep going and then there will be good opportunities.”

The Swedish U21 international has acknowledged that he was unaware that a representative from a Premier League powerhouse had traveled to observe him play for Mjällby. When he learned about Manchester United, he was shocked.

“I didn’t know that club was here, I didn’t even know they had been to Strandvallen. I was shocked when I read about it. I sat at home and saw when it came out, it said that United are scouting me, I was a bit shocked,” Rosengren explained.

In addition to Erik ten Hag's team, Feyenoord and Heerenveen reportedly deployed scouts to track down the kid.

Rosengren, who has a contract that runs until 2025, is now aware of the interest other clubs have shown. When he will contemplate leaving Mjällby is a point he has highlighted.

“There is interest, but it is nothing concrete as far as I know. You have to take a stand if there is something concrete, an offer or something like that. I have a contract until 2025,” he added.

Meanwhile, Dominik Livakovic, a goalkeeper for Croatia, is available for transfer, and Manchester United is willing to meet his €10 million (£8.8 million) release clause.

The 28-year-old goalkeeper was one of the stars of the 2022 World Cup, advancing his nation to the semifinals in Qatar with the help of his heroics in penalty shootouts against Brazil and Japan.

According to Croatian source Sportske Jutarnji, United want to sign the Dinamo Zagreb star this summer and see his release clause as 'no problem.' The player will reach the final year of his contract this summer.

David de Gea, the current United goalkeeper, is nearing the end of his current contract at Old Trafford. The club is in talks to offer him a new deal with less favorable terms, even if United has the option to extend that by another year. With an estimated weekly salary of £350,000, the Spaniard is one of the club's highest earners.

Recent sources indicate the transaction is nearly completed, although United also seems interested in signing Livakovic.

Real Sociedad, Villarreal, and Turkish powerhouse Galatasaray are reportedly interested in signing him, giving United competition for his services.

In the past, his signature has also been associated with Leicester and Nottingham Forest.

This summer, United's main goals are to add a new center forward and a midfielder, but they are also keeping an eye out for a long-term replacement for David de Gea.

Diogo Costa of Porto has been a target for the team this year, along with David Raya of Brentford and Robert Sanchez of Brighton.

Last Thursday, De Gea had a disastrous evening as United lost 3-0 to Sevilla, causing them to easily advance to the semifinals of the Europa League.

In Sunday's FA Cup semi-final against Brighton, the 32-year-old made several crucial stops, but was once again criticized for how he fared in the penalty shootout. Until Solly March blasted his attempt over the bar, he was unable to get near any of the Seagulls' six successful penalty kicks.

Even though Jack Butland joined United on loan from Crystal Palace during the January transfer window, Rangers is still interested in signing him this summer.
