Should Erik Ten Hag be worried about Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro ahead of Europa League clash with Sevilla

The midfielder for Manchester United, Casemiro, is back from suspension this week, but he must balance between one danger and another.

The four-game domestic suspension for Casemiro is already complete. The international break prolonged the Brazil international's absence; it has been almost a month since he last began a Manchester United game.

In this week's opening leg of the Europa League quarterfinal against Sevilla at Old Trafford, he will be qualified to start. And from a disciplinary perspective, this will present Casemiro with a unique problem.

Casemiro is only one caution away from being suspended for one Europa League game. If he obtains a booking in either of the two legs of the match against Sevilla, he will be suspended for the next game, maybe the semifinal if United advances.

After the quarterfinals, yellow cards are no longer counted, meaning Casemiro only needs to survive the next two games.

The 4-1 victory over Real Betis, with the second leg merely a formality, would have been the ideal moment to tactically get a booking.

Star midfielder Bruno Fernandes of Manchester United is another player who can be suspended. Given that United has become accustomed to playing without Casemiro lately, his absence would be felt much more keenly if he were to receive just one more yellow card and receive a one-match suspension.

Bruno Fernandes shines in deep mid field role.

In what many describe to as a quarterback-style role versus Everton, Bruno Fernandes once again found himself in a deeper position.

The Portuguese magnifico played a key role in United's domination by frequently picking up the front four and producing two significant chances. He was only prevented from increasing his total number of assists by his wastefulness in front of goal.

Under the Dutch coach, the night's captain was required to perform a variety of tasks, from acting as the deep-lying playmaker on Wednesday to playing on the wings.

Against Brentford during last mid week Premier League victory Despite playing in a difficult and unfamiliar position, the Portuguese team had the most touches of the ball (114) and ended with an outstanding 87% pass accuracy rate.

Although Marcel Sabitzer and Scott McTominay of Ten Hag's midfield options offer physicality, neither has the passing ability of the Portugal international, so the manager opted to put Fernandes there.

Again, he completed the most passes of any player on the field with 83, including 30 in the closing third. The Portuguese played more forward after United took the lead, completing seven long balls and three crucial crosses.

The tenacious 28-year-old never wavered in his defensive responsibilities as he made 10 ball returns and triumphed in all of his aerial duels and four out of five ground duels.

Fernandes made two interceptions and made two saves for his side while making one tackle. Additionally, he released anxiety by prevailing in two crucial fouls in risky situations.

His display against Brentford on Wednesday night prompted the team manager to refer to him as the 'big engine' during his post match interview.

Bruno Fernandes, in Erik ten Hag's opinion, was essential to Manchester United's victory. He took on a more significant position in midfield than usual.Erik ten Hag praised Marcus Rashford, David de Gea, and three other players in particular during his news conference, according to BBC Sport.

He said of Rashford: “Once again he is on top and in very good form so hopefully he can keep doing it until the end of the season. Keep that focus and those energy levels and then he will score.”

Ten Hag praised a key save David de Gea made from Ivan Toney in the second half, commenting: “When you need David, he is there.”

Speaking to MUTV on Fernandes, he added: “The big engine Bruno Fernandes! He had a brilliant game.”

Erik ten Hag will be looking to both players to tread carefully and maintain their composure.
