Man United's transfer stories: Rivals enter race for mid fielder as journalist confirms contract discussion

According to a recent report, Manchester United is preparing a sizable offer to sign Chelsea star Mason Mount before Liverpool does.

Mount has been in talks to extend his Chelsea contract, which expires in the summer of 2024.

Despite the fact that Blues co-owner Todd Boehly is overseeing negotiations, a contract has not yet been finalized. According to several reports, the transaction is being stalled by differences regarding Mount's base pay, bonuses, and image rights.

As Jurgen Klopp attempts to rebuild his midfield, Liverpool has been credited with an interest. However, they are now up against United and Erik ten Hag for attention.

A recent report claims that United wants Mount as one of their top targets and is willing to pay a significant sum of money to acquire him.

According to The Daily Mail, Ten Hag is eager to sign Mount this summer, despite interest from both Liverpool and Bayern Munich.

In addition, United are willing to pay Chelsea £55 million because the 24-year-old only has one year left on his current contract. That, though, is reportedly less than the Blues' £85 million valuation.

Middlesbrough wants departing Academy star.

Ethan Galbraith, 22 year old academy player announced last week on Instagram that he is set to exit the club at the expiration of his contract come the climax of the season and it appears the North Ireland international has won himself an admirer in the form of former Manchester United's player coach Michael Carrick who is manager at Middlesbrough.

The 22-year-old Galbraith is expected to leave Manchester United this summer as a free agent. The midfielder is starting to draw transfer interest ahead of the summer contract expiration, according to a report from Manchester World earlier this month. Teams interested include Newcastle United, Sunderland, Stoke City, and Derby County.

However, The Real EFL has recently asserted that Middlesbrough is also interested in Galbraith. After losing to Coventry City earlier this month and being eliminated from the play-offs, Michael Carrick's Boro will stay in the Championship for the upcoming campaign.

Prior to the summer, Boro is simply one of several teams interested in Galbraith, so it might be difficult for the club to complete the transaction.

However, the youngster appears to have a bright future. A reunion with Carrick, a United great, and the chance to learn from a former top midfielder should appeal to Galbraith. He is a well-rounded midfielder who will have had a nice upbringing at United.

Middlesbrough still has a ton of work to do before the summer is out. To ensure they're competitive again the following season, they must add enough talent to their roster, but Carrick and company will also be keeping an eye on the long term and on players like Galbraith.

Galbraith joined Salford City on a season-long loan in the summer after spending the previous season on loan with Doncaster Rovers. Since then, he has made 32 appearances in League Two games, contributing three assists and four goals from midfield to help Salford reach the play-offs.

However, his team's season was ended by Stockport County in the semi-finals, therefore terminating Galbraith's tenure at the organization.

Boro may have made a wise acquisition here, but Galbraith will need some time to get used to the Championship.

Manchester United open talks with Adrien Rabiot

Adrien Rabiot will be signed this summer by Erik ten Hag on a free deal.

It is well known that after Frenkie de Jong's sale failed last summer, United pursued Rabiot. However, despite agreeing to a €20 million fee with Juventus, director of football John Murtough's personal trip to Turin did not result in an agreement on personal terms with the French international.

Since Rabiot is now expected to become a free agent in June and United's transfer budget is uncertain because of takeover intentions, they appear to be moving rapidly to capture the mercurial talent. United later signed Casemiro, but they are still lacking in central midfield.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano details (via Caughtoffside): “There have been contacts as Manchester United are interested again in Adrien Rabiot."

“There is no official bid, and Juventus have also made Rabiot a proposal over a new contract, so the player will decide his future soon.”

It will not be difficult to provide a better deal than Juventus, as Italian salary capping and their exclusion from European football due to their 10-point fine for tax evasion make one thing plain.

The amount needed to outbid the Old Lady might, however, be significantly lower than what Rabiot's own "old lady," mother and agent Veronique, is willing to pay for her son.

The media reportedly tossed around figures of €10 million (around £175,000 per week) plus bonuses last summer, however some stories suggested they had been overstated.

The highest offer from Juventus would be in the neighborhood of the current €7 million plus bonuses (about £115,000 per week).

A player who has had a fantastic season for the Turin team and also made an impression at the World Cup, helping France get to the final, may also attract interest from other teams. According to the dependable Christian Falk, Bayern Munich is reportedly interested in the 28-year-old.

"Our Story: Bayern are interested in Adrien Rabiot (28) @PSG_inside. other candidates for the midfield: Mateo Kovacic (29/Chelsea) and Declan Rice (24/West Ham) @SPORTBILD," Chris Falk tweeted.

Arsenal joins United in the race for £25 million mid fielder

The possibility of Sergej Milinkovic-Savi leaving Lazio at the end of the current campaign has been raised.

The 28-year-old midfielder's contract with the Italian club runs through the summer of 2024, and Lazio has so far been unable to reach an agreement with him over a contract extension.

They are willing to sell him in the coming weeks because they do not want to lose him on a free transfer next summer.

Arsenal and Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing the midfielder this summer, although they will have competition from Newcastle United, according to a Sport Mediaset report. The player might be available for just €25 million, according to the report.

The Gunners will need to add more midfielders, and Declan Rice has been mentioned in connection with this. Due to a lack of depth in their squad, Arsenal has been unable to rotate their midfield unit. To do well in the UEFA Champions League next season, they will require a larger roster.

Milinkovic-Savi will give the team some much-needed goals, creativity, and defensive protection. He possesses the physical and technical skills to succeed in the Premier League. The 28-year-old is a complete midfielder who has the potential to significantly enhance Arsenal. Throughout all of the contests this season, he has scored nine goals and provided eight assists.

In a similar vein, he might play alongside Casemiro in the center of Manchester United's midfield in 2019. He would be a significant improvement over players like Scott McTominay and Fred.

Newcastle will also need to upgrade their team by adding more talent. In order to perform well in the European competition the next year, they need better players now that they have already qualified for the Champions League. Their finest midfielder has been Bruno Guimaraes, and the Brazilian needs more assistance and backing from his squad.

The 28-year-old Serbian and Guimaraes might create a strong midfield pairing for Newcastle.
