"He's also scoring goals"- Erik Ten Hag defends Anthony Martial

Despite Anthony Martial's most recent setback, Erik ten Hag reaffirmed that Manchester United are a better team with him on the team.

Martial was disgruntled by Ten Hag's choice to replace him with Wout Weghorst in the 57th minute of United's 1-0 victory over Bournemouth on Saturday.

Before entering the tunnel, the 27-year-old striker had a quick conversation with several of his teammates and staff. After a while, Martial reappeared to see the rest of United's triumph.

Due to hamstring, Achilles, back, and muscle problems, Martial has only managed to score eight goals altogether in 16 starts this season.

The club prioritized adding a striker in the summer, and the Frenchman has participated in 27 of United's 59 games this season.

Although Ten Hag was reluctant to dwell on Martial's future, he admitted his lack of availability has blighted his campaign.

"If you are not available, you can't score," Ten Hag stressed. "When he was available we played better, the team is winning games, he's also scoring goals but he has to be available."
