Man United tipped to pull a 'Sir Alex Ferguson's' feat with Leeds United's star signing

Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, will already be focused on the club's potential transfer agreements, with additional signings expected to be required if the United are to start on again next season, even if the FA Cup final match will still take place the following weekend.

The Manchester Evening News recently reported that a new center-forward and midfielder are priorities for the Dutchman, who said after the midweek victory over Chelsea that United need "better players" if they are to challenge for big honors going forward.

With regard to the latter position, Tyler Adams of Leeds United is one prospective target that the Old Trafford team is rumored to be considering, according to Football Insider.

The American international is being watched by the Carabao Cup winners.

According to the source, the Elland Road management is worried that the 24-year-old would depart the team this summer if the Yorkshire team is demoted, with Ten Hag and company prepared to seize the opportunity to close a transfer for about £35 million.

The former RB Leipzig player, who only moved to England last summer, has been out with an injury in recent weeks as his team fights to avoid the drop, but Kevin Campbell, a pundit, claims that before that the £20 million signing had been "instrumental" for the Whites.

The young youngster, dubbed a "tackling machine" by Campbell, would not be the first to make the contentious switch from Leeds to the Theatre of Dreams, joining players like Rio Ferdinand and Alan Smith.

The 5 foot 9 ace will undoubtedly be especially motivated to try and match the impact of another person who has switched, United veteran Eric Cantona.

The eminent Frenchman seems to be a man who needs no introduction, but Red Devils supporters will probably never get tired of hearing the story of how they were able to obtain the legendary forward on the cheap from their fierce rivals.

Before the Premier League was established in 1992, champions Leeds had inquired about the possibility of signing full-back Denis Irwin from Old Trafford, though chairman Martin Edwards ultimately shifted his attention to talk about a potential deal to acquire Cantona instead.

In the end, Edwards and company were able to acquire the legendary forward for a meager cost of just £1 million, which turned out to be a true steal given the striker's tremendous impact over the following years. As it turned out, Irwin not only stayed put.

The former Marseille player went on to win four league championships over the course of the following five seasons while playing for Alex Ferguson's team. He did this while tallying 126 goals and assists in just 156 league games, solidifying his status as a true cult legend.

Ferguson earlier remarked that the influential "Messiah" simply "transformed" United after his arrival, and it is hoped that Adams may attempt to approximate even a little portion of that outstanding impact.

The signing of the American might very well prove to be a real masterclass for the Red Devils, just like it was with enigmatic marksman.
