Inter Milan ready to sell Premier League target as United shows interest

Lautaro Martinez is apparently a target for Manchester United, and Inter Milan is 'ready' to trade him in order to raise money for a summer roster overhaul.

A great center-forward is Erik ten Hag's first priority this summer in order to complement Marcus Rashford. The Serie A star is now potentially available for a bid from the Red Devils.

Martinez has the potential to be a quality acquisition for Manchester United. The Red Devils, however, have a number of other notable athletes on their short list.

Victor Osimhen, a prolific goal scorer for Napoli, and Harry Kane, the all-time leading scorer for Tottenham, are reportedly Ten Hag's top two targets for a striker.

Alternative candidates have started to emerge, though, as both parties are finding it difficult to make moves. Man Utd, for instance, is considering Randal Kolo Muani of Eintracht Frankfurt.

However, Ten Hag might turn his attention to Martinez now that Inter Milan is 'willing' to sell the Argentine international for £70 million this summer, according to a report from Football Insider.

Martinez has long been connected to Manchester United. However, Tottenham, Arsenal, and Real Madrid have also expressed interest in him, so they may have to contend with one another for his services.

Martinez has made 228 appearances since joining Inter in 2018, participating in 95 goals and 32 assists. He now contributes an incredible 0.56 goals on average per game.

The 25-year-old has 17 goals in 32 Serie A games this season. Last year, he also contributed to Argentina's first World Cup victory since 1986.

Given this, it comes as no surprise that Martinez is being pursued by a number of elite clubs. The only remaining uncertainty is whether Man Utd—or any other club—will agree to pay his asking price of £70 million.

Although it is a significant sum, Martinez would be less expensive than both Kane and Osimhen, who are valued at £88m and £130m, respectively.

Since Ten Hag's arrival, Man Utd has had a strong season and is currently fourth in the Premier League standings. Marcus Rashford's incredible form, as already mentioned, has been crucial to their success. The international for England has scored 29 goals so far in all competitions.

Marcus Rashford could likely use some attacking support, though, if the Red Devils want to once again fight for the crown.

As a result, it appears inevitable that Man Utd will sign a high-priced center-forward before the start of the following campaign.

The only open question is who will be the target—Martinez, Osimhen, Kane, Muani, or someone else. In any case, Ten Hag and company will have a very fascinating transfer period.
