"Idiot"- Pundit slams Antony as details of Harry Maguire's moment of class against West Ham emerges

In an outburst against Brighton, Gabby Agbonlahor called Manchester United winger Antony a "idiot" and said that Erik ten Hag "has got to speak to him" about his behavior.

The beginning of Antony's United career hasn't been too horrible. In various competitions during the season, the Brazilian has personally contributed to 10 goals.

There is potential that he could have a significant impact, even though his return does not suggest he has been a significant contribution. However, Agbonlahor believes the winger is acting inappropriately while playing.

“I think he’s a bit of an idiot, to be honest,” he told Football Insider.

That response is a reaction to United's most recent game loss to Brighton. In an instance, Antony came up to Lewis Dunk after a tackle and slammed his chest into him, which Agbonlahor thought was unwarranted.

“There was no need for that tackle on Mac Allister, and then he’s trying to go chest to chest with a giant in Lewis Dunk. He’d have destroyed him,” Agbonlahor added.

The analyst suggested that Antony's poor performance may be to blame for his attitude; before to the Nottingham Forest match in April, he went 14 games without recording a league goal or assist.

“Is Antony frustrated with his own performance, and that’s why he’s lashing out?” he said.

“He can’t take a player on, he can’t beat a man, he can’t get a shot on goal. He’s got to be frustrated with his own performances this season.”

Agbonlahor also believes that Ten Hag needs to help him change his mindset so that his game may advance from where it is right now.

“Ten Hag has got to speak to him about it. He’s got to calm down or he’ll get red cards,” he said.

“He’s got to try and become the £86million player he was brought in to be.”

While he was obviously enraged at the time, this does not mean that he will continue to be so. However, Antony and United would both want him to consistently deliver strong performances rather than only when they felt like it. For that to happen, he needs to be in the correct state of mind.

Harry Maguire's moment of class during Manchester United's trip to West Ham

West Ham's under-18 team is experiencing a memorable season as Kevin Keen's team made history by winning both the Premier League South and FA Youth Cup.

Before the game began, the under-18s were led around the London Stadium to thunderous cheers from West Ham supporters in every section of the stadium.

Harry Maguire, the captain of Manchester United, approached the young stars of the Hammers as they were about to finish their lap and head back down the tunnel to offer his congratulations on a great season.

With a spot in the UEFA Youth League up for grabs, it was a moment of pure class that demonstrated his desire to share his admiration with West Ham's stars. On Wednesday night, when they go to Manchester United for the Under-18s Premier League national final, they might win the triple.

Harry Maguire has lost his place amongst Manchester United's defensive options and is tipped to seek for an exit in the coming summer transfer window.

West Ham are one of those clubs hoping to secure the 30 year old's signature, while Seria A side, Inter Milan are reportedly interested.
