'He can be a legend' - Rafael Leao praises Marcus Rashford during Twitter Q&A with followers

In a social media Q&A, Rafael Leao, the star forward for AC Milan, lauded Marcus Rashford, the top scorer for Manchester United.

For the Serie A giants this season, Leao has 13 goals and the same number of assists. The 23-year-old is getting ready for his first Champions League semi-final, which will take place on Wednesday night at the San Siro when AC plays Inter Milan.

Leao asked his fans to submit questions prior to the game, and throughout the discussion he lauded Rashford, "Marcus Rashford is a model for me, I like the way he plays," the winger posted.

"Can be a legend." Rashford has enjoyed plenty of success on the left wing for United this season and has returned to form under Erik ten Hag.

Rafael Leao isn't the only player who have voiced their admiration for the Manchester United's academy graduate. Newcastle United's striker also labelled him one of the best player he has played with on the pitch.

Callum Wilson, claims that Marcus Rashford is the best player he has ever worked with. He claims that because of his consistency this year, people are now comparing him to the best.

Having made 52 appearances across all competitions, Rashford has had his best season at United since making the first team in 2016. He has scored 29 goals in 52 games. With almost three times as many goals as any other player in red this season, he has been essential to the team's push for the Champions League spot and the Carabao Cup victory.

Despite lapses in performance or minor ailments throughout a season, he has maintained a level of consistency not seen in prior years. Wilson, though, who was a member of the England team alongside Rashford, was aware of his talent.

"The best player I've probably played with is Marcus Rashford," Wilson told JD Sports. "I think he's now come into form and people are seeing the best of him, but even before that, as someone who's played with him and trained with him, you see his quality and how good he actually is."

"You're waiting for him to do it on more regular and consistent basis, and now he's doing that, the whole world are kind of putting him in the category that he should be in."

Rashford's goals were crucial in helping United win the Carabao Cup, advance to the FA Cup final, and all but guarantee their spot in the Champions League for the upcoming season.

The England international acknowledged last week that this has been his greatest season but reiterated that winning trophies still stands as the primary objective.

"For me, it's about the trophies," he said. "We've got the opportunity to secure Champions League football and the big one is to win another piece of silverware. That's what we're going to try to do. So that's what the aim is now."

Marcus Rashford's contract situation

Marcus Rashford's contract negotiations with Manchester United are apparently moving along, and they intend to start him with Harry Kane in the upcoming campaign.

The club wants to keep the 25-year-old forward at Old Trafford until his current contract expires, and the Telegraph reports that negotiations are "headed in the right direction." Rashford's deal expires at the end of the upcoming campaign, although it's anticipated that he will stay at Old Trafford.

According to the report, any new contract for Rashford will likely bring him on par with players like David de Gea, who is reportedly making £375,000 a week, and the rest of the team's top earners. Additionally, United wants the attacker to play next to Kane, who is still the club's top target for a striker this summer.

Kane is reportedly Erik ten Hag's top aim for a striker to bolster the United assault this summer. The 29-year-old is reportedly interested in being signed by the Dutchman as his contract year is drawing near. The Reds are still interested in Napoli striker Victor Osimhen.

However, Despite continued interest from Manchester United, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis reiterated that the defending Serie A champions will not offload star striker Victor Osimhen this summer.

The 24-year-old Nigerian international is a clear target for the Reds as they look to add more attacking options during the summer transfer window. Although Harry Kane is the management's primary target, it is believed that manager Erik ten Hag prioritized the recruitment of a fresh goal scorer and that Osimhen has been on their radar since November.

By scoring 22 goals in 27 league games, Osimhen, who is also drawing interest from clubs like Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain, helped Napoli win the Serie A title for the first time in 33 years this season. He has made 34 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring 27 goals overall.

He has made a name for himself as one of the most in-demand attackers in Europe, and a number of teams, including United, have been keeping an eye on him in the lead-up to this summer. De Laurentiis, the manager of Napoli, put an end to any aspirations United and other suitors may have had of signing him after the Italian team won the title on Thursday night.

In an interview with Rai Sport in Italy, De Laurentiis stated: "I will not sell Victor Osimhen this summer - no way."

With an incredible total of 27 goals this year, Osimhen has been the crown jewel for Napoli. He signed on with the reigning Serie A champions in July 2020, and in 96 games since then, he has scored 55 goals.

Osimhen refused to comment on his future after Napoli's Serie A championship-clinching 1-1 tie with Udinese on Thursday night, stating that the time wasn't appropriate.

"I'm thrilled with this victory," Osimhen told Sky. "I'm happy for me, for the team and for the fans. I can't wait to come back in Naples to embrace our fans, even though tonight I already felt the warmth of the people."

"I'm happy for all the Neapolitans. I scored the Scudetto goal, it's true, but anyone else could have scored it. I feel like a leader and I never give up. Future? Now I want to enjoy this historic moment, this is not the time to think about my future."

"[Luciano] Spalletti is a great coach, he asks us a lot but he is like a father to all of us. He always manages to motivate us and he deserves this title."

The 25-year-old Englishman has so far led the Reds in scoring with 29 goals and 11 assists this season. Rashford's contract had a one-year extension clause that United elected to trigger during the holiday season in order to keep him committed to the team through 2024.

Reports from Manchester Evening News suggests that United wants to prolong his stay beyond 2024 and are currently contract negotiations. It is widely anticipated that these conversations will go on for a while as Rashford haggle over the details.
