Gernacho to start- Possible Man United's starting eleven against Chelsea ahead of Thursday night

Manchester United is mathematically one point away from clinching its third top-four finish in four Premier League seasons and making its long-awaited comeback to the Champions League.

Erik ten Hag's team returns to Old Trafford on Thursday to play Chelsea in search of a point to secure a spot in the Champions League for the following season after last Saturday's 1-0 victory at Bournemouth.

The Red Devils have gained more fitness ahead of Thursday's match thanks to Alejandro Garnacho and Scott McTominay making late debuts at the Vitality Stadium after extended absences.

Marcus Rashford, a talented forward, started working out again on Tuesday. If he tests fit on Wednesday, he would be eligible to play in his 33rd Premier League game, according to ManUtd.com.

Rashford has scored five goals against Chelsea in the past, and if he is selected for the matchday squad, he may become the first Manchester United player since Robin van Persie to reach the 30-goal plateau in a season.

Although Donny van de Beek, Marcel Sabitzer, and Lisandro Martinez won't be playing again this year, Ten Hag should still have more than enough tools to defeat the disorganized Blues this midweek.

The Dutchman should select the same defense that defended well against Bournemouth and Wolverhampton Wanderers in the previous two rounds in addition to goalkeeper David de Gea.

Luke Shaw and Aaron Wan-Bissaka are anticipated to support the center backs at Old Trafford, where Raphael Varane and Victor Lindelof are likely to link up.

Casemiro and Christian Eriksen will again pair up in Ten Hag's double-pivot in front of the backline, as they have whenever the two were healthy this season, after the Brazilian forward's game-winning goal at the Vitality.

Jadon Sancho and Antony might be able to cling onto their spots on the wings even if Rashford returns to the team because he'll probably start the game on the bench. Bruno Fernandes would likely occupy the space behind the striker.

Despite Anthony Martial's lackluster performance at the weekend, he still has an advantage over Wout Weghorst, who has struggled since joining on loan from Burnley in January.
