Erik Ten Hag has revealed his preferred candidate for Man United's right back position amid Frimpong's arrival

Erik ten Hag seems content with the right-back challenge he faces. Diogo Dalot and Aaron-Wan-Bissaka, two right-backs, are in "really close competition," according to Manchester United's boss.

Throughout the first half of the season, Dalot was our primary right-back; however, since the season resumed in December, Wan-Bissaka has played 16 of United's 26 games.

They both have advantages and disadvantages, but they are very distinct from one another. Wan-Bissaka is regarded as a solid 1v1 defender, whereas Dalot is stronger at moving the ball forward.

“I think it’s really close between them,” Ten Hag said, as per Manchester Evening News.

“So maybe Aaron gives you a little bit more defending, Diogo a little bit more offence. They both made progress in both areas, so it’s really close."

“Then you look at the opponent, you look at the load of the players to manage when you have almost two equal players, the form, where they are in, is also an issue. And of course, how is the team, how are they doing in the moment, and you make your decisions.”

Ten Hag was able to solve United's left-back issues in his first summer with the team. He chose to acquire Tyrell Malacia as Luke Shaw's backup and loan Alex Telles out. United, meanwhile, has two strong alternatives on the left.

The Athletic reported that Manchester United are in advanced talks with Bayern Leverkusen's right back Jeremy Frimpong's agent regarding a summer transfer move ahead of next season.

Bayern Leverkusen have as well announced the signing of Brazilian right back Arthur Augusto de Matos Soares, a signing that German journalist Florian Plettenberg believes is a direct replacement for 22-year-old Jeremy Frimpong as they prepare for life after the flying right back who has 17 goals contributions this season.
