Bayern Leverkusen announces Jeremy Frimpong's replacement as United meets agent to conclude early summer switch

Jeremie Frimpong, who is wanted by Manchester United, has a substitute, according to Bayer Leverkusen.

There is no way that the coincidence was accidental. After Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg broke the story about Manchester United's discussions with Jeremie Frimpong's agents, his club launched a search for a possible replacement.

Young right-back Arthur Augusto de Matos Soares was fully unveiled by Bayer Leverkusen, complete with pictures and a contract signing, on their club website. The 20-year-old, who joins from Atletico Mineiro and has a full Brazilian international license, will be eligible to compete beginning with the 2019–2020 season.

Manchester United's interest is reasonable. That is significantly more goals and helpers than Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka have combined for. Additionally, it appears that Leverkusen is putting together plans for Frimpong's potential exit after realizing they might not be able to stop him.

With eight goals and nine assists for Bayer Leverkusen this season, Jeremie Frimpong has been outstanding. However, Bayern Leverkusen's managing director Simon Rolfes suggested that Arthur is a player they hope can contribute right away next season: “His signing is a transfer with a long-term perspective and in Arthur we have gained a player capable of developing who we believe can play an important role in the medium term.”

According to German television station Sport1, Bayer Leverkusen will trade Frimpong this summer for about £25 million. Although it must be noted that Leverkusen use a back three and use Frimpong as a wing-back rather than a traditional full-back, he is still an intriguing possibility.

Erik ten Hag is reportedly a fan of the player, according to Florian Plettenberg, and Manchester United has made the first move by getting in touch with Frimpong's agents. Jeremy Frimpong is just one of a few right-backs United will be contemplating at this point in early April.

This gets a little trickier because of a different issue. Last month, Sport1 stated that Bayern Munich was keeping an eye on Frimpong, as He is being considered to take the position of Benjamin Pavard, who Manchester United has held "exploratory talks" regarding the Athletic story. Let's see how everything plays out in this one.
