Brighton Albion set to accept €70 million for Mac Allister as Harry Maguire's draws Premier League interests

According to rumours from outside, Alexis Mac Allister, a midfielder for Brighton, is a target for Manchester United. According to ESPN South America, Manchester United is "closely following" the outstanding midfielder.

Arsenal and Liverpool, rivals in the Premier League, are rumored to be interested in the 24-year-old World Cup winner. Brighton have reportedly set a price of roughly £62 million (€70 million), according to Tyc Sports' Gaston Edul, who was quoted by All About Argentina on Twitter.

In the upcoming two months, Manchester United will have two opportunities to observe Alexis Mac Allister closely, one in the FA Cup semifinal and one in the Premier League.

Mac Allister, a Lisandro Martinez international teammate at United, is poised to leave Brighton after his profile rose as a result of his World Cup victory.

When Argentina won the tournament last December, the 24-year-old started six games, including the championship, and scored once. With eight goals in 24 Premier League games and two more in the FA Cup, he has had a productive season for Brighton.

Mac Allister is a capable player on both sides of the ball and might be the Frenkie de Jong alternative Erik ten Hag has been looking for. According to The Athletic, the Man United's management is looking to sign a "number 8" midfielder.

Despite the likes of Fred McTominay and Bayern Munich's loanee Marcel Sabitzer being available in the Red Devils' ranks, injured Christian Eriksen's creative onus has been unattainable, leading to a lack of creativity in the Red Devils' midfield and keeping the midfield rigid. Bruno Fernandes has been deployed to play in that role twice since Christian Eriksen's injury to help sort out the lack of creativity and dynamism in the middle of the park.

Scott McTominay is being linked with a move to Eddi Howe's Newcastle United, while Marcel Sabitzer's future with the Red Devils isn't certain, which will force the Red Devils' recruitment team to bring in another creative deep lying playmaker in the next summer transfer window.

However,United is interested in a number of Brighton players, not just him. The Sun linked forward Evan Ferguson and winger Kaoru Mitoma, and midfielder Moises Caicedo is another long-term goal.

At about £60 million, Mac Allister would be decently priced. Brighton will get a solid return on their investment if they bring in a player from Argentinos Juniors in 2019. Although Brighton has the option to extend his contract by another year, it expires in 2025.

Harry Maguire nears United's exit

Harry Maguire, the captain of Manchester United, seems destined to be unnecessary at Old Trafford this summer. While on international duty with England last week, Harry Maguire revealed in an interview with The Times that he felt he had nothing to show at the highest level.

Erik ten Hag used three center backs, either from the start or as substitutes, in each of Manchester United's two games since the international break, which lasted 90 minutes. There wasn't Harry Maguire among them. Since domestic football has returned, he has not played for even a single second.

Erik ten Hag has deployed Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez late in games as backups, although Victor Lindelof has been preferred. Harry Maguire did play the whole 90 minutes against Fulham in the penultimate game before the break, but he appeared uneasy and was given a suspension, keeping him out of the FA Cup semi-final later this month.

The 30 year old might have had a decent matchup against physical opponents like Brentford and Newcastle, two teams he could handle. Erik ten Hag, for better or worse, feels that he has greater options.

The prospects of Harry Maguire playing against Everton this weekend are limited. If he does play, it will be due to squad rotation and not because Erik ten Hag considers him a key player in his starting lineup.

The English international started each of the 38 Premier League games he played in during his first season at Manchester United in 2019–20. Only five of his twelve outings in all competitions this season have seen him start in the Premier League. Between now and the conclusion of the season, there may be a few weird starts here and there, but Maguire is easily replaceable.

The 2019 campaign saw the Manchester United sign Maguire for £80 million under Ole Solskjaer's management. He continues to rank among the most costly signings in club history.

Man United will incur a significant financial loss as a result of Harry Maguire, if the 30 year old should exit the club in the summer transfer window. Last weekend, The Sun speculated that his former team Leicester would try to re-sign him on a loan.

There will be lots of clubs that are interested. West Ham and Newcastle were mentioned as probable landing locations by Teamtalk.
