'You can't count on Weghorst'- Sky Sports presenter Richard Keys aims dig at United's striker

While getting critical of Fulham's squad and manager for their manner during the Emirates FA Cup clash against Manchester United, which ultimately caused their exit, Richard Keys took a dig at Manchester United's striker Wout Weghorst for being a passenger during the Red Devils' victory over the Cottagers on Sunday evening.

Richard Keys allegedly has a reputation for his regular criticism of Premier League referees but was full of praise for Chris Kavanagh, the referee who officiated the game between Erik Ten Hag's side and Marco Silva's men. Richard Keys, on his blog, wrote about the "irony" of Bruno Fernandes not getting sent off during the game but pointed out that it was Mitrovic's moment of madness that eliminated Fulham from the competition, whilst taking a dig at Wout Weghorst.

“Having berated some, let’s give Chris Kavanagh credit for his handling of the shambles all of Fulham’s making at Old Trafford,” Keys wrote on his blog.

"What were they thinking?" Never has a team been more guilty of tossing away a match. Ninety seconds of madness cost them.

“The way United were playing, I’d have fancied Fulham to beat them with 10 anyway." Sending Willian off only evened things up. United only had 10 on hand. You can’t count Weghorst.

“When he lost control, Mitrovic cost Fulham any chance of winning the game.”

“Kavanagh was terrific and got every call right—including denying Mitrovic a pen in the first half, the incident that sparked Marco Silva’s fury."

Silva thought Kavanagh should’ve been asked to check his monitor when Mitrovic and the little man clashed in the box. If Kavanagh had done so, he wouldn’t have changed his mind, but perhaps a look would’ve satisfied Silva?

“Mitrovic should be banned for some time for his ridiculous attack on the ref." "What was going through his mind?”

Keys then emphasized the "irony" of Fernandes’ involvement in the game, believing the Manchester United playmaker should have been sent off for a similar incident to Mitrovic’s in their defeat at Anfield.

“It was an irony that Fernandes got a couple because he should be serving a ban." I still don’t know how he escaped an FA charge after he manhandled the assistant at Anfield. The FA were weak and should’ve charged him. My mom used to tell me that "you reap what you sow." "The FA certainly did this weekend," he concluded.
