Wout Weghorst in trouble as fans bash the Burnley loanee on Twitter, for alleged action at Liverpool

Manchester United's fans are reportedly angry with Wout Weghorst's action when the team was preparing to step onto the pitch at Anfield on Thursday evening.

Nothing has been the same amongst Manchester United's fans as they witnessed their team's humiliation at the hands of bitter rivals Liverpool. While most players are being singled out for the team's collectively poor display on Sunday, Wout Weghorst is in bigger trouble with the club's faithful.

The on-loan Burnley striker allegedly touched Liverpool's iconic "This is Anfield" sign while emerging from the tunnel alongside his teammates.

The video has not been well received by the Old Trafford fans, who believe their team was down to 10 men during their 7-0 defeat. Wout Weghorst is a vocal Liverpool fan from his childhood days and has in the past indicated how much he wanted to play for the Reds.

One particularly furious supporter wrote: "I don't care about his Carabao Cup pictures anymore." He has to leave the club at the end of his six-month term. THIS VIDEO is enough to let him go. "How the hell can you touch the Anfield sign as a Manchester United player?"

A second agreed, stating: "Terminate his contract."

For a third fan, the humbling result was a result of superstition, claiming: "Now that 7-0 makes more sense, you never touch that sign as a rival team always ends badly."

And a fourth had clearly changed their opinions of the big center-forward, adding: "Disgusting; I was actually starting to like the bloke."

Wout Weghorst has worked hard, and just as he was beginning to win the hearts of Old Trafford faithful, he undid it all with just one line of action. Fans haven't been pleased with him after he scored just once since his arrival on a loan deal. He has however been able to win them to his side due to his hectic work on the pitch, and right now he will be thinking about how to win them back.

In an interview with DAZN back in 2020, Wout Weghorst professed love for Liverpool. "I always found Liverpool very special." I still get goosebumps from "You'll Never Walk Alone." "There are other great English clubs too, and I always liked Milan because so many Dutch played there," Weghorst told DAZN.

And in 2018, he told De Telegraaf: "I've dreamt of [playing for Liverpool] since childhood."

One Man United Twitter user wrote: "It was 12 v 10 from the start."

Another agreed, adding, "We lost the game before it even started, bro."

Wout Weghorst may have been conscious of the fierce rivalry between the two historically most successful clubs in the nation because he grew up supporting the Reds, but he appears to have made a mistake during Sunday's game.

And because of that mistake, some supporters now claim that their team was doomed from the beginning, despite the fact that they entered the match in superior shape and had just won their first trophy in six years.
