"They can beat any team"- Van Persie warns rivals about fearless Man United as he recalls Anfield experience

Manchester United's former striker Robin Van Persie has claimed that the current squad under Erik Ten Hag can beat any team in the world.

The former Arsenal and Manchester United striker was instrumental as Sir Alex Ferguson's side won their 20th Premier League title after he joined from the North London giants Arsenal. He went on to contribute 30 goals as the Red Devils marched to a successful Premier League campaign.

The left-footed attacker visited Carrington's training center last month and was blown away by the atmosphere within the club. Man United are currently on an 11-match unbeaten run, and the former Netherlands international believes that rivals should be worried as the current Man United fear no team.

“Now Manchester United is within reach; when Arsenal or [Manchester] City make a mistake, you are there to take advantage of it,” he told Man United.com.

“I do believe that everyone believes and feels that this Manchester United team can beat any team in the world. And that is what you want, from everyone’s point of view.

“You want to compete with the best and stay in the hunt." "That's key until the end of the season, and I’m sure they will do that," he stated.

Robin Van Persie as well made his mark on the Sunday fixture during his three-year stay at Old Trafford. He scored a decisive late penalty to ensure Manchester United won 2-1 at Anfield back in September 2012. Robin Van Persie also explained that he relishes the magnitude of the fixture between the two archrivals.

“Well, I like it [the pressure] because I sort of grew up with a similar feeling with Ajax and Feyenoord; I always liked it,” he said.

“I actually prefer to play those games than the so-called smaller ones. "This is what you play for as a player; this is what you dreamed of as a kid."

“Although I was in that fast train and it was all very busy and hectic, I always had a moment of like, ‘This is why I wanted to be a footballer,'" especially during those games and on one of those occasions.

Van Persie further gave insights on the challenges the Red Devils would encounter when they played at Anfield and recalled how challenging it was to play in front of the Kop crowd during his time as a player.

"Yeah, it’s a very difficult place to play, Anfield,” he added. “But [it is] a beautiful place as well, from a player's point of view.

“It’s so much fun to play in a beautiful stadium when the fans are on top of every single action." "I did score that goal, I think, with my penalty, which I had to wait five or six minutes before I was allowed to take, so it was a tough one."

“It wasn’t the most beautiful game, but it was intense." "Yeah, of course, to get a win there and to play a role is always good in those big games," he explained.
