Man United recieves fresh boost in race for Napoli's defender as Europe elite denies interest in 26 year old

According to Sky Sports (via Manchester Evening News), Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) were "never interested" in Kim Min-jae, a center-back who was a target for Manchester United and Napoli.

The Ligue 1 heavyweights won't have to contend with the Red Devils for the South Korean international in the upcoming transfer season.

The Parisians are currently not interested in hiring the 26-year-old. Ahead of the summer of 2019, he is primarily attracting attention from Premier League clubs.

In the summer of 2022, Min-jae agreed to join Napoli from Fenerbahce. He was brought in to take Kalidou Koulibaly's position after he joined Chelsea.

However, the South Korean has done more than just step in for the Senegal international. He has emerged as a crucial member of the Partenopei's lineup as they prepare to win the Serie A championship for the first time in more than 30 years.

The squad led by Luciano Spalletti has also advanced to the quarterfinals of the Champions League. The 26-year-old has made 35 appearances for the Italian team across all competitions, netting two goals and assisting one.

Recent weeks have seen PSG struggle with a lack of center-back alternatives. The majority of the season has been spent on the bench for Presnel Kimpembe. In order to fill the void left by the French national, Danilo Pereira has had to perform outside of his natural position.

As a result, it appears that Erik Ten Hag's team won't need to add reinforcements for the center-back spot. It won't make sense to pursue Min-jae even if Maguire and Lindelof choose to depart.

Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez have a strong working relationship at United. Therefore, it is not a wise choice to spend a sizable amount of money on the South Korean, who will obviously serve as a backup.
