Man United on alert as Sporting CP star Goncalo Inacio rule out Newcastle United's move

Manchester United are reportedly monitoring Sporting Lisbon's Goncalo Inacio, Mirror claims that reports emerging from Portugal suggests that the Red Devils could move for the 21 year old in the next summer.

The 21-year-old, who is among the best young defenders in the world, is generally anticipated to be the next academy alum to leave Lisbon for a lucrative move to a European powerhouse.

Goncalo Inacio was a member of Portugal's preliminary World Cup squad of 55 players, but he was left off the final roster for the competition in Qatar. Nevertheless, this coming week could see Inacio make his senior debut.

Under Ruben Amorim, the young player has made a huge impression this year, and Manchester United and Newcastle have reportedly taken note, according to the Portuguese newspaper O Jogo.

According to rumors, Inacio believes he is ready to sign with a premier European team and prefers a transfer to Old Trafford over St James' Park.

Goncalo Inacio may be available to the Red Devils this summer, and there are rumors that he could serve as insurance and a rival to Lisandro Martinez at left center-back.

Erik ten Hag rotates his squad frequently, so Inacio would likely get plenty of playing time. Additionally, United are anticipated to try and offload captain Harry Maguire in the summer, which would open up even more opportunities.

The defender is believed to feel he is ready to join a top European club and favours a move to Old Trafford over St James’ Park.

The Red Devils are ‘attentive’ to the possibility of signing Goncalo Inacio this summer and there are suggestions he could act as cover and competition for Lisandro Martinez in the left centre-back role.

The 21 year old's long-term future would be secured by Sporting through a contract extension, and his release clause could rise to as much as €80 million (£70 million).

Goncalo Inacio is said to be "uninterested" in moving to Newcastle, provided Manchester United does not make a move this summer and will only abandon Sporting for a European powerhouse that participates frequently in the Champions League.

Goncalo Inacio is an important component of Sporting's build-up play from the defense and averages 75 passes per game in the Portuguese league, the most of any player at the club, while also contributing three assists. He is a complete package.

Manchester United will likely sanction the sales of Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof if they are serious about the Sporting CP center back.
