Teamtalk has claimed that Manchester United are holding advanced talks with super-agent Jorge Mendes regarding a potential transfer move for Benfica's striker Goncalo Ramos.
The 21 year old was having an excellent season with Primeria League side Benfica but caught Europe elites attention after his World Cup exploits with the Portugal national team.
Under Ten Hag's leadership, the Red Devils have advanced quickly this year. This season, he already put a stop to their six-year trophy drought, and they still have the chance to add to it with victories in the FA Cup and Europa League. In fact, they face Real Betis in a challenging match on Thursday night to resume their European campaign.
The Ten Hag process does appear to have the full support of United's top brass, and the manager is believed to know exactly what the club requires. Many people admired him for taking a tough stance in the Cristiano Ronaldo scandal, first by barring him from first-team play and then following his explosive talk with Piers Morgan.
Ronaldo's departure, however, leaves United with a void to replace. The Red Devils do appear to be lacking in attack, and Wout Weghorst's brief assignment doesn't seem likely to be prolonged.
After touching the "This is Anfield" sign prior to Sunday's game, the Dutch attacker finds himself in a bit of a ridiculous storm.
Whatever the case, Weghorst won't be playing in the upcoming season, leaving Ten Hag in need of a replacement No 9.
United reportedly has three primary options in view as a result. Harry Kane is one of those, and their chances of signing him have improved as a result of Tottenham's timid Champions League departure.
Indeed, Kane must depart based solely on that performance, according to Rio Ferdinand and Thierry Henry. Meanwhile, Erik Ten Hag's side are vigorously linked with in form Napoli's striker and Nigerian international Victor Oshimen.
Deals for Kane or Osimhen, however, will be infamously challenging to complete.
Despite Spurs' difficulties, Kane is still anticipated to secure his status at the organization. Daniel Levy would make things very difficult for any negotiating club even if he were to leave.
The same is true of Napoli's decision regarding Osimhen. The striker wants to compete in the Premier League, but Napoli's $120 million asking price seems out of reach.
They will allegedly be happier going after Goncalo Ramos of Benfica as a third option.
The 21-year-old has been in outstanding form this season, notching 23 goals and nine assists in 34 outings. Ten Hag had already been keeping an eye on him early in the season.
But Ten Hag is said to have been persuaded by his stellar performance at the World Cup and since then, especially in the Champions League, that he should be the one to captain United's line.
According to the Portuguese publication Correio da Manha (pg. 5, 09/03/23), United and Mendes have had several negotiations.
Additionally, they assert that Benfica, quarterfinalists in the Champions League, will find it "very difficult" to keep him for the upcoming campaign.
Ramos is allegedly displeased with Benfica for not offering him a new contract at the Estadio da Luz. In light of this, Correio da Manha believes Ramos' sale by the Portuguese superpowers this summer is becoming more likely.
His contract has a £106 million (€120 million) exit clause and is presently due in 2026.
However, they claim that Benfica appear willing to sell him for about £88.8 million (€100 million).
Thus, it's said that discussions with Mendes about a transfer to United are progressing quickly.
Ramos, a mobile and technically gifted attacker, appears to be well-suited to score plenty of goals in the Premier League. Additionally, United will support Ten Hag to make the deal happen if he determines that Ramos is the person he desires.
