"Everyone is pleased"- Marcus Rashford backs Erik Ten Hag claim about Bruno Fernandes and Wout Weghorst

Manchester United's Marcus Rashford was back among the goals on Thursday night. He was on hand to open the scoring just six minutes into the first half as he blasted the ball into the roof of the net. He came close to scoring more, but the goals from the rest of his teammates ensured that the Red Devils are in a commanding position ahead of the return leg in Spain scheduled for March 16.

The 25-year-old was particularly happy with his teammates getting on the score sheet, especially Wout Weghorst, who hasn't been lucky in front of goal despite putting in so much work on the pitch.

"He does a tremendous job for the team; we all know that, but it’s the goals that are going to keep him happy and keep him working hard."

"I’m really pleased for him today, and hopefully he gets some more."

The number 10 was happy with Bruno Fernandes after the Portuguese international picked up an assist and a goal following heavy criticism from the media after the team's defeat at Anfield on Sunday. The Red Devils' stand in the captain's name was being echoed by the Old Trafford crowd even before he scored in the second half.

"Bruno was excellent again today. "Good goal, and his overall performance was very good; everyone is pleased for him."

Manchester United's manager was as well delighted with the duo's impact and dwelled on their individual contributions during the 4-1 win.

"He [Weghorst] was so close many times already, and he has created so many chances and goals for others by making space," he said.

"Now he has his goal [at Old Trafford], and he deserved it." For Bruno, I think he was brilliant today. He led the team by example from the first minute. "In possession, he made the rhythm of the game, and he scored a goal, so I am happy."

Marcus Rashford hailed the crowd for their support; the fans got behind the team right from the first signal of the first half, and Marcus Rashford stressed it was important for the players before adding that the 4-1 win on Thursday was the right direction as they bid to put the 7-0 loss to Liverpool behind them.

"It’s a step in the right direction." "We have to build on this now to gain momentum," he told BT Sport.

"We can’t put too much emphasis on Sunday because it is gone; we can’t change it." "We have to look forward now to the next games."

"We’re all as one when we come here on matchdays," he told MUTV at full time.

"We need them [the fans], we need their support, and it is always good when they support players in moments that aren’t ideal."

Despite being in such a commanding position ahead of the second leg of the Europa League tie in Spain, Marcus Rashford believes that the job is not yet done.

"It’s football," he told club media. Anything can happen.

"We have to go there with the right mentality and get the job done; we’ve put ourselves in a good position in the tie, but it’s not finished yet."

Marcus Rashford's goal is his 26th of the season, and that's the total number of goals he has scored for Manchester United in the last two seasons combined.
