Erik Ten Hag lays emphasises on the attributes Man United will be seeking when in the summer's transfer window

Manchester United's manager Erik Ten Hag has given insights on the Premier League side's plans and the qualities they seek in players when they delve into the transfer market for new recruits.

The former Ajax boss recently claimed that Manchester United have failed due to the recruitment of average players into their team over the years.

Late last year, Old Trafford saw the controversial exit of club icon Cristiano Ronaldo, which left the attacking department of the squad depleted. Anthony Martial's injury woes complicated the situation, which forced Erik Ten Hag and Manchester United to make an emergency signing of Wout Weghorst.

Manchester United are still linked with several players and have been tipped to make serious signings next summer. They have Barcelona's Frenkie De Jong on their radar, and Jude Bellingham's contract situation at Borussia Dortmund is being monitored. However, Erik Ten Hag has emphasized the qualities the Red Devils will be hunting for before validating the signing of a player.

"I think when you go to recruitment in the summer, we were looking for players with character, with personality, and it was not only about signing a player; there are a lot of players in the world that have great skills," Erik Ten Hag stated during his press conference on Friday afternoon.

"So technical approach or they can run really fast.  But we are looking for players who have character. Players who have personality, who have leadership qualities, who take responsibility, and who are resilient. "So that was the type of player I was looking for after I made the analysis of the squad," he explained.

Borussia Dortmund's sporting director gave an update on the 19-year-old's future and suggested the club wants to keep the former Birmingham City star.

"Of course we're trying to keep Jude Bellingham at Borussia Dortmund as long as possible," Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl recently told the Ruhr Nachrichten when asked about the youngster. "

"He's an incredibly important player who has shown once again this season how he identifies with this club and makes the team better."

Liverpool are also in contention for the player despite their struggles this season and would capture the player regardless of whether they qualify for the Champions League next campaign.

Jude Bellingham has impressed with Borussia Dortmund this season, scoring 10 goals and assisting six more in 30 appearances. The player's current contract runs until 2025, which leaves Borussia Dortmund in a stronger position when negotiating with the player's suitors, regardless of whether they fail to get him to sign a new contract.

Manchester United are reportedly going to recruit Jude Bellingham next summer and also bring either Victor Oshimen or Harry Kane to Old Trafford.
