Manchester United are set to resume the for another extremely busy two months of fixtures starting with an away trip to Newcastle United's St James Park on Sunday.
Currently third on the Premier League table and just ahead of fifth place Newcastle United with three points while Tottenham Hotspur are breathing heavily on their neck as they trail Erik Ten Hag's men with just a point from the fourth place, a defeat against Newcastle United on Sunday will see the Red Devils drop to fifth position as the Mapgies boasts of more goal difference.
Erik Ten Hag have recieved multiple injury boosts ahead of the Red Devils trip to North East of the country but he is still on the look out of Eddi Howe's Newcastle United's 'irritating' delay tactics.
He was quoted during his press conference on Friday afternoon, ahead of the two sides last meeting at the Wembley stadium in February which the Red Devils emerged victor's albiet lifting the Carabao Cup at the expense of Newcastle United, Erik Ten Hag claimed Newcastle United's delay tactics were irritating and time wasting.
"A concern? We know they delay," Erik Ten Hag concurred.
"That's something that the refereeing doesn't want, they want to have tempo in the game, that is the aim from the Premier League, to have tempo in the game. So, then they also have to be consistent to let the game go and do and act what the policy is."
"Is that their only tactic that irritates you?" Erik Ten Hag was quizzed further.
"You said the question but it's about us, like we did in the two previous games [against Newcastle], it's about us," he replied.
"We want, as every game, to dictate, control the game. We play against a good opponent, we are aware of that, they have a great season with their manager, with their way of play, that is really a team that is hard to beat."
"But we're looking forward to the challenge, and as we already had many challenges this season, and we have shown the evidence that we can beat them," he added.
Erik Ten Hag as well reacted to calls for Scott McTominay to played in the striker's position after putting in a fine performance for Scotland national team during the international break. The 26 year old impressed Man United's fans with how he finished off his goals against Spain and Cyprus.
The academy graduate recorded four goals in two games for Steve Clarke's Scotland but it was his composure when striking the ball for those goals that has excited Man United's fans, however, Erik Ten Hag has clarified that the player will continue to impress in the mid field.
"I think Scott can play in many roles, and it's clear, he has scoring capabilities, it's clear. We have seen it for Scotland but also this season for us, he is a really good finisher, yeah," he said .
"But I see him as a midfielder, so I think I am happy with what Wout is doing because when Wout is in the team, the team is performing better."
