Manchester United could have to deal with finishing the season without exciting young prospect Alejandro Gernacho.
In an article by 90 MIN, Tom Gotta suggested that Erik Ten Hag could be without 18 year old Gernacho when the Red Devils enters the climax of the season.
If Argentina is given the right to host the Under-20 World Cup this summer, Manchester United may be obliged to finish the season without the young winger Alejandro Garnacho.
Argentina didn't make it into the tournament, which will take place in May and was originally scheduled to be hosted by Indonesia. However, FIFA has confirmed that there will be a change of hosts after Bali refused to accept the Israeli squad.
The selection of a new host will take place soon, and according to reports, only Argentina filed a bid.
"There are other countries that have also announced interest but as a candidacy, with the government's guarantees and other details, Argentina is the first and we will make the decision in two or three days," said FIFA president Gianni Infantino.
If Argentina is given the hosting rights, La Albiceleste will likely be allowed back into the competition, which could have an impact on United.
FIFA regulations would prevent United from preventing Garnacho's departure because clubs are not allowed to refuse calls-ups for big tournaments like the World Cup. Argentina would probably call Garnacho for the tournament, which starts on May 20.
The 18-year-old is presently sidelined due to an ankle injury, but reports in Argentina suggest that if he were called up, he would be healthy enough to compete in the tournament.
Alejandro Garnacho would miss United's closing two Premier League games of the season, against Bournemouth and Fulham, if he were to be called up. He would also be absent for the FA Cup and Europa League championships. The first one is planned for May 31 and the second one for June 3.
He is currently on the sidelines, reocupating from an Injury sustained during Manchester United's 0-0 draw against Southampton. He has managed four goals and six assists across all competitions for Manchester United this season under Erik Ten Hag's guidance.
