Breaking News: FA charges Manchester United for clustering Chris Kavanagh during FA Cup clash with Fulham

There is a new development from the incidence that played out during the  quarter finals of the Emirates FA Cup clash between Manchester United and Fulham last Sunday.

The Football Association has fined Manchester United for encircling referee Chris Kavanagh during Sunday's tense FA Cup quarterfinal victory over Fulham.

After Kavanagh initially gave a corner when Willian blocked Jadon Sancho's shot on the line, a ruling that caused a tumultuous few minutes, United's players asked the referee for a handball.

Aleksandar Mitrovic of Fulham, who was also dismissed along with Cottagers manager Marco Silva, shoved Chris Kavanagh before he altered his mind and sent Willian off after consulting the pitchside monitor.

The FA has already fined Silva and Mitrovic, with the latter facing a long suspension, and United has now also been charged with misconduct for the conduct of its players at Old Trafford.

An FA statement read: “Manchester United FC has been charged after its players surrounded a match official during the 71st minute of the FA Cup tie against Fulham FC on Sunday 19 March.

“It’s alleged that Manchester United FC failed to ensure its players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and/or do not behave in a way which is improper.

“Manchester United FC has until Monday 27 March to respond.”

Prior to Willian's handball, Fulham had a 1-0 advantage. United scored the ensuing penalty as Bruno Fernandes slotted it ito the back of the net sending the goalkeeper the wrong way and went on to win the game 3-1 with Marcel Sabitzer scoring a worldie and Bruno Fernandes adding a third with a powerful long range strike.
