Arsenal joins Chelsea and Manchester United in race for 19 year old Southampton star

According to reports, Romeo Lavia of Southampton is a target for Chelsea.

According to a report from Football Insider, the Blues are presently trying to convince the 19-year-old to join them at Stamford Bridge at the end of the current campaign. They will also have to contend with Manchester United and Arsenal.

Since transferring from Manchester City to Southampton last summer, the 19-year-old has been an important member of the team.

The player's contract reportedly contains a £40 million buyback provision for the Premier League's powerhouses, but it is unclear if Manchester City will choose to exercise this option.

It goes without saying that Chelsea will need to add players to their midfield, particularly since N'Golo Kante is anticipated to leave the team on a free transfer.

Conor Gallagher, Ruben Loftus-cheek, and Mateo Kovacic have also been mentioned in connection with possible team departures.

Lavia has the potential to become one of the best midfielders in the Premier League, and he could make for the perfect partner for Enzo Fernandez in Chelsea's midfield next year.

The youthful midfielder is probably drawn to the possibility of playing for a team like Chelsea.

Southampton is presently in serious danger of being demoted to the championship at the end of the current Premier League season. The Saints may feel pressure to sell the 19-year-old player because he won't want to play in the lower division of English football.

Romeo Lavia may be the perfect Thomas Partey partner for Arsenal, who also need to add more depth to their middle. The 19-year-old would be a much-needed improvement over Scott McTominay for Manchester United in the upcoming season.
