In Manchester United's victory over Crystal Palace, Alejandro Garnacho found himself in the unfortunate position of being a substitute who was also replaced.
However, this in no way represented Garnacho's actual performance. Garnacho helped elevate United following his substitution in the 59th minute against Palace, when the effort had been lackluster.
Bruno Fernandes' early penalty gave Manchester United a 1-0 lead, but United faltered, especially early in the second half. After Wout Weghorst was replaced by Juan Garnacho, Marcus Rashford quickly doubled United's advantage.
Alejandro Garnacho was involved in the biuld up as Luke Shaw assisted Marcus Rashford in scoring United's second goal, which was his 19th of the year.
The game was then transformed by Casemiro receiving a red card. After giving up a goal, United had to hold on to earn all three points.
Erik ten Hag then made a number of tactical adjustments, one of which involved bringing Garnacho off in the 87th minute in conjunction with the substitutions of Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof. Manchester United needed every defender on the field to finish off the victory in the seven minutes of extra time.
The Manchester United's manager reacted to taking off the 18 year old despite just subbing him on in the second half. The young Argentine impacted the game while he lasted on the pitch according to Erik Ten Hag.
“I think it was difficult for the opponent when we bring in that sub [Garnacho on for Wout Weghorst] because it was a different dynamic all of a sudden," he stated.
“They are focusing on a player who is playing all of the time on the ball and then they have a player who is going round the back of them."
“It was great to see that the team picked up a good dynamic and the change, and took the benefit of it," the manager explained.
