Erik Ten Hag lays emphasises on vital Crystal Palace game as he charges player to do better

Manchester United's manager Erik Ten Hag has declared the next Premier League fixture against Crystal Palace a vital one that must be won.

Two weeks ago, Manchester United were stunned by a late Michael Olise's powerful free kick in the final minutes of the encounter at Selhurst Park to end the game 1-1. The stalemate ended Manchester United's winning streak, and that saw them drop two points. A victory at Selhurt Park would have catapulted Erik Ten Hag's side into second place.

Currently fourth on the league table, behind Newcastle United, who are ahead of them on goal difference. Erik Ten Hag's side have Tottenham's three points behind them in fifth place, and a loss will bring them level on points with the London club. This will be a catastrophe for their hunt for a spot in the prestigious UEFA Champions League next campaign.

"We have to always focus on the game no matter what; that is our job." That's why we are here," Erik Ten Hag told the club's media.

The manager made reference to the disappointing 1-1 stalemate at Selhurst Park last month and has charged his side to do better on Saturday afternoon.

"We have a lot to do against them; two weeks ago, we had a bad performance there [at Selhurst Park], and I wasn't happy with the performance from us." It was 90 percent focus and energy, and we dropped two points. We have to avoid it tomorrow. "We need to play a better game tomorrow, have better focus in the game, and especially better conduct in our way of playing because we have to beat them, that's quite clear," he stated.

The manager was quizzed on whether it's an advantage or not to the Red Devils that they are facing the Eagles again in the Premier League, just two weeks after their last meeting.

"It's always been difficult to say before, but of course, we know a lot about them, and they know a lot about us." "But, like I said, we were really unhappy about our game at Crystal Palace; we have to do much better, so I demand a much better performance," Erik Ten Hag replied.

"When we perform better than in London, then we have a good chance to win." But first, we have to come to the level."

Erik Ten Hag has declared Manchester United are happy with Raphael Varane's decision to retire from international football, as it will help the 29-year-old focus more on the club.

"Yeah, for United, I think it's good news, but I think Rapha has achieved everything. in international football, club-wise, but also with his nation. I think it is incredible what he has achieved. "Big respect," and I'm happy he now puts all of his energy and his experience into our team.
