Former Arsenal attacker Emmanuel Petit has tipped Manchester United ace Marcus Rashford and Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka to contend for the prestigious Ballon d'Or award in the near future.
The two England internationals are enjoying stellar seasons with their individual teams, with Marcus Rashford clinching the Carabao Cup with Manchester United and currently on one of his best goalscoring forms ever; the 25-year-old has scored 28 times this season.
Emmanuel Petit stressed that the Manchester United academy graduate has banished his demons from last campaign, which saw him lose his confidence after scoring just five times across all competitions. He is now arguably the most informed player in the football world, scoring 17 times in 19 appearances since returning from the World Cup with the England national team.
"Marcus Rashford was so miserable last season and he was losing his confidence, but now he is a completely different player and back to perfect standards." "He is also very clinical," Emmanuel Petit stated.
He also acknowledged Bukayo Saka's importance to Mikel Arteta's side; the Arsenal academy graduate has racked up over 150 appearances since he broke into the first team in 2019. He has been instrumental in the Gunners' title push this season, scoring and creating chances for the North London club.
Saka, however, is very important for Arsenal and does great things on the pitch.
"I am a massive fan of Saka and the way he plays; I think he will be the captain of Arsenal in the years to come," Petit claimed.
When Premier League Odds asked the Arsenal legend whom he would love between the two stars, he refused to pick a side but tipped them to contest for the Ballon d'Or in the future.
"I would love to have them both on my team," he said.
"Both players are so important and clinical for their clubs. I think they could compete for the Ballon d’Or if they keep playing the way they are.
"I love the pair of them, but as a Gunner, I would stick with Bukayo Saka," he stated.
