Man United linked with MLS youngster as target striker agrees deal with RB Leipzig

Chicago Fire youngster Brian Gutierrez has attracted Manchester United's interest after a decent season in the United States Major League Soccer.

The 19-year-old featured frequently for the MLS side, providing four assists in 15 matches.

Brian Gutierrez has represented the UNSMT at youth level; however, Chicago Fire refused to allow him to participate for the UNSMT under-20 side in the on-going Under-20 FIFA World Cup due to his relevance to the team.

Despite the Chicago Fire's dismissal season, which has seen them win just three out of 16 games, Currently, they are at the bottom of the MLS Eastern Conference, but Brian Gutierrez's talent cannot be denied.

The Daily Mail claims Manchester United and three other top European elites—Borussia Dortmund, Rangers, and RB Leipzig—have been tracking the 19-year-old's performances.

Amid the Daily Mail's claim that Manchester United are monitoring the 19-year-old, reports suggest the youngster is working on getting a work permit to enable him to play in England as a result of regulations enforced following Brexit.

Gutierrez has been described as 'incredible' by Fire head coach Frank Klopas, who said in May after a 1-0 win over St. Louis City (quotes via Goal): "Right now, [he] is at a different level and he can continue. He's going to continue to grow and take more responsibility for himself.

"Today, he was incredible. Good with the ball, his work rate, key passes, ability to beat players, technical ability—he's got everything in my mind."

"And you can just see year by year; I've seen him grow and mature even when he was at Fire Academy. He's really playing like a man now."

However, Brian Gutierrez will struggle to reach the required threshold for him to be able to get his working permit. Especially as he is yet to make his senior debut for the USMNT. But the Red Devils still have the option of signing him and loaning him away from Old Trafford.

Brian Gutierrez will become the seventh American to feature for the Red Devils if he joins Erik Ten Hag's side.

In other news, Lens striker Lois Openda is set to join RB Leipzig after agreeing personal terms with the Bundesliga outfit. RB Leipzig will snap up the Belgian forward's signature with a deal worth £25 million.

Lois Openda recorded 21 goals and 4 assists as Lens finished second in Ligue 1. He also scored a five-minute hat trick against Clermont. Manchester United have had scouts watch Lois Openda at some points this season.
