United on alert after Premier League manager's transfer claim and mid fielder's green light

As Manchester United is rumored to be interested in two stars, Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi acknowledges that he may lose a number of important players this summer.

Thanks to their victory over Southampton over the weekend, the Seagulls have qualified for European play for the first time in their existence. As a result, the club will be bolstering its roster in preparation for a demanding new season.

However, a number of senior first-team players may leave as a result of this turnaround. One of Brighton's top players, Alexis Mac Allister, is rumored to be of interest to a number of Premier League teams, including United and Liverpool.

Erik ten Hag is eager to sign a top-tier midfielder this summer, and Moises Caicedo is one name that has been connected to the club along with a much-needed striker. After his team defeated the Saints on Sunday, Brighton manager De Zerbi acknowledged that some of his squad's notable players might leave for teams with "bigger targets."

"Now we have to organise the new squad for the new season," the 43 year old stated.

"I don’t think we need too many new players, but we have to compete in the Europa League and in the Premier League, because it will be tougher for sure."

"I think we lose some big players but it’s right, because they deserve to play for other teams with bigger targets. We have to be ready to bring in some more big players, within the policy of the club. We have to arrive ready to compete in four competitions.”

To finish in the top four and qualify for the Champions League the next season, United only needs a point against Chelsea on Thursday. That would be a key component in drawing players, and Caicedo himself admitted last month that playing in the competition was his dream.

Speaking to SER, the Ecuador World Cup star said: “What I want to do now is to win titles and listen to the Champions League anthem, it’s my next step. I might even cry when I hear it.”

Man United and Newcastle given Ruben Neves green light.

Ruben Neves is one of Manchester United and Newcastle's top transfer targets, and a bidding war for his services is anticipated to break out after the two teams qualify for the Champions League.

In recent weeks, Barcelona has been highly connected to the Wolves midfielder, and it has been widely rumored that Ansu Fati could be involved in a swap deal. They will now have to contend with the Premier League's financial might, as both Newcastle and United are anticipated to pursue a deal to sign the Portuguese international.

This occurs as both clubs are projected to qualify for the Champions League the next season; to do so, Newcastle United already secured that with a draw against Leicester City on Monday night while Manchester United still has two games to pick a point from to secured a place in next campaign's Champions League. They can now give guarantees to any potential summer targets because their position at the top of European football for the following season is all but guaranteed.

The Wolves captain spoke about his summer transfer plans after his team's draw with Everton on Saturday, a match that is likely to be Neves' last in a Wolves uniform. Neves has stated that this Champions League qualifying is a factor in his future.

“Let’s see. Let’s see what happens. Of course, I always say the same thing, I truly love to be here but I never hide that I want to play Champions League football. That is a hard decision to make because I feel at home here.

“In football you need to hurry, you need to go for your main goals and I think that would be a massive decision for me and my family. Nothing has happened yet. It is was my last game here, I really enjoyed it and I’m thankful for every single person who has worked with me for six seasons.”

Due to his contract with the Black Country ending in the summer of 2019, his remarks are expected to ignite a transfer war for his signature. These remarks may also alert Arsenal, who are anticipated to bolster their midfield this summer, although Declan Rice is anticipated to be the major priority.

Neves may be drawn to a new challenge abroad after spending the last six seasons playing in England, and Barcelona may put together an alluring package despite their financial limitations. However, given that Fati's deal with the Catalan giants expires in 2027, they might need to rely on his willingness to quit the team.

Fans and players of Wolves will be hoping that Neves stays in the Midlands, and teammate Hawng Hee Chan has also been talking about Neves' future.

“We don’t know if he will leave or he will stay, but I hope he stays,” Hwang said. “It’s not just me – every player wants Ruben to stay here."

“He’s such an amazing player – as captain, as player and as a person," he continued. “He’s done so many things well for us, that I just want to play with him."

“I just think he’s the best player for us and for these fans.”
