"United are coming back"- Luke Shaw hints at Old Trafford's expectations for next season under Erik Ten Hag

Luke Shaw claims that he expects "big signings" to arrive at Old Trafford this summer.

In their search for a prolific goal striker, Manchester United is focusing on Harry Kane. They are also looking for a world-class young midfielder, with names like Mason Mount and Declan Rice recently being mentioned.

Prior to the FA Cup final on June 3, a draw against Chelsea on Thursday will guarantee United's return to the Champions League. The League Cup is already in the trophy cabinet.

Next season, supporters are hoping that United can contend for the league crown and have a respectable run in Europe. Shaw adds several significant early additions from Erik ten Hag before the preseason would help toward that goal and shares that ambition.

“Like I said before, we have to be challenging for the title with this team,” he told Sky Sports.

“With the direction this manager is going under, I’m sure we’re going to make new signings, big signings this summer."

“So hopefully we can get them done as quickly as possible so they're in for pre-season. Our aim for next season has to be winning the Premier League and the Champions League. That’s how we have to think from now on.”

Shaw noted the rise in intensity and claimed Ten Hag has offered a fresh way of thinking. He thinks that as a result, United are improved, and that competitors have taken notice of the team's revival under the Dutchman.

"I think teams around us can definitely see that United are coming back. First season under the new manager, there's always going to be a bit of transition."

"It's clear to see what he has brought in and how he's changed the way we think, the way we play."

“I think he wants to bring a lot of intensity. Everything he wants the team to do is high intensity, he wants us to be aggressive, on the front foot, pressing as high as possible.

“But also with the ball I think he’s made us better. I think we're definitely more of a threat now when we're on the ball. It's clear to see we're going in the right direction.”

Erik Ten Hag as well is anticipating a busy transfer window during the summer. With Manchester United squad set for a major revamp.

While a striker is said to be a priority, and Erik Ten Hag reportedly is hoping to bring in two major striker's before the August deadline day. A mid fielder and a defender is on the books as well. With Napoli's Kim Min Jae being projected as a potential first major signing for the Red Devils and team captain Harry Maguire set to be released.

Erik Ten Hag during his press conference on Wednesday afternoon hinted at club's expectations and plans for the upcoming summer transfer window.

“I want to have players with the right characters and personalities who are outstanding and who can contribute at the highest levels," he said.
