Teddy Sheringham blasts Tottenham owner over Harry Kane's treatment amid United's huant for £20 million alternative

Teddy Sheringham believes that Harry Kane should be respected and given the option to join Manchester United if he so chooses by Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy.

Though the 29-year-old's contract expires in the summer of 2019, it won't be easy for Erik ten Hag to sign the striker, who has reportedly made Kane his top target this summer.

Kane is anticipated to fetch a transfer fee of more than £80 million since Levy has established a reputation as a difficult negotiator.

Although sources have warned that United won't get involved in a transfer saga for England's all-time leading scorer, Tottenham do not want to sell Kane to a direct Premier League rival, which could also result in drawn-out negotiations.

When asked lately about Kane's future, Sheringham, who himself switched from Tottenham to United in 1997 in exchange for titles, advised Levy to respect the player and his desire for a prospective transfer elsewhere.

"I joined United because I felt that Tottenham were not going to allow me to compete for trophies," Sheringham told LordPing. "I didn’t think the club were going to bring in the players that would have enabled us to challenge for the biggest prizes."

"Harry has got to look at the situation at the club and ask himself the same questions that I did. If he doesn’t think that the club are going to be able to bring in players that would see them competing, then I don’t think there’s a single Tottenham fan that would begrudge him the opportunity to win trophies with another club."

"After the service that he's given Tottenham, Daniel Levy should give him the respect and the freedom to make his own decision. If during that conversation Harry says that he wants to leave in the summer, then Daniel Levy must grant him that wish and get as much money as he can for him."

"Daniel needs to have the conversation with Harry and get everything out in the open. Harry will have his own questions and he will want to know who is coming in to manage the club, what the budget will be – these conversations happening between a club’s top player and a club chairman are not unusual. This is a situation that needs clarity and needs to be sorted as quickly as possible."

Daniel Levy's view on Harry Kane's future

The chairman of Tottenham, Daniel Levy, in March stated that Harry Kane can win a trophy with the team and has aspirations of erecting a statue of the forward someday.

Since his lack of any silverware continues to tarnish his otherwise stellar record, Kane has frequently been linked with a move away from the north London club.

Having smashed both records this season, he is already England's and Spurs' all-time leading scorer. With 273 goals overall for the team, including 206 in the Premier League, the striker is just two goals shy of Wayne Rooney's record.

Although Alan Shearer's 260-goal record is clearly within his grasp, his reputation will never be fully established without that trophy.

When questioned by the Cambridge Union if Kane must leave Spurs in order to win a trophy, Levy responded as follows: “He can absolutely win a trophy at Spurs."

“But being a legend is also important. The fact that he’s top scorer of Tottenham Hotspur – he’s making history.

“I hope one day that there is a statue of Harry Kane outside our stadium.”

This summer, Manchester United has been the primary Premier League club mentioned in connection with a transfer of Harry Kane. Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain have also been mentioned.

Levy denied claims that he is the Premier League's toughest negotiator while also appearing to warn the Red Devils that luring Kane away won't be simple.

“I don’t consider myself a special negotiator or anything like that, I’m just acting in the best interests of my club,” said Levy.

“I think when it comes to the transfer it depends on the balance of power.

“If you have a player who you really don’t want to sell then you have every right to say no, you own the registration.

“It depends also on the character of the player, whether you feel at the end you can keep the player because we’re operating in a team sport, it’s very important that we keep the team together."

“Every circumstance is different," he explained.

Man United's linked with Harry Kane's alternatives

Benjamin Šeško may be on Manchester United's radar again during the summer transfer season, Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth told GIVEMESPORT.

Šeško has been on United's radar for some time, even though he won't turn 20 until the end of the month. Sheth described him as a "cheaper" substitute for Harry Kane.

According to a report in The Sun, United has been monitoring goal-scoring machine eko throughout the current season in preparation for a potential summer transfer.

According to reports, United scouts recently attended to observe the Red Bull Salzburg player play as rumors of a Premier League switch pick up steam.

According to a January ESPN article, Šeško, Napoli's Victor Oshimen and Tottenham Hotspur's Kane were the two other names on United's shortlist for a summer striker.

It was reported that Erik ten Hag was interested in acquiring a new center forward in the summer market despite signing Wout Weghorst from Burnley on loan until the end of the season.

Any chances of signing Benjamin Šeško at the conclusion of the season, though, may depend on his availability given that the Slovenian has already consented to a £20 million transfer to RB Leipzig, Salzburg's Red Bull sister club.

The fact that Benjamin Šeško has a deal with RB Leipzig certainly makes things more difficult, but Sheth of Sky Sports still predicts that United would express interest in the player.

Sheth spoke to GIVEMESPORT regarding the 19-year-old: "It would be a cheaper alternative. However, it is a complicated one to do because he's currently at Red Bull Salzburg, but he's already agreed to go to RB Leipzig in a deal that was worth around £20 million."

"So that deal is done. I know United were interested in January and they could have got him at a good price. But I think they were trying to just keep their powder dry just a little bit and thought let's do the short-term fix just at the moment when they brought in Wout Weghotst on loan.

"Then they could reconsider and reassess all of their options come the summer, because they'll know that there'll be more options available.”

Benjamin Šeško has been dubbed "the next Erling Haaland" for his goal-scoring prowess, and elite scouts from around the continent are taking notice.

A viral video collection of Benjamin Šeško's performances shows why the 19-cap Slovenian international has been compared to the Manchester City talisman due to his comparable playing style to Haaland.

Despite not yet turning 20, Benjamin Šeško already has an impressive 59 goals to his credit, proving he is destined for a goal-filled career in European football.

And if a deal for Benjamin Šeško is made possible by money this summer, United should seize the opportunity to sign the skilled shooter
